- Description:
In the previous post, I focused on editing and preparing the four models for the upcoming animation. After that, I moved on to doing the same with the scenery, accessories, and props the models could interact with.
Once that was done, I got to work on the script I had written, adding to it and improving existing elements without discarding what had already been animated. As a result, the project is now better organized and has been extended a bit.
While adding to the script, I created images of new poses that could occur before or after the existing animation, resulting in several poses.
After choosing which of the new poses to animate, I started working on a new scene consisting of one pose with three main variations and their respective outcomes, and then I began working on the new animation.
I started animating from the second variation of the scene, but I realized I had taken quite a while with the previous version, and several days had passed since my last post. I needed more time to have a solid fragment to show, so I decided to change the point at which I consider a fragment to have reached the minimum animation level to be shown here.
Speaking a bit about my animation steps, in my case, I perform at least 8 out of 11 steps in total before a fragment reaches the appropriate state to be shown and considered "Video Wip" ("Wip" is "work in progress", meaning it's not yet the final animation). Thinking about a project, I logically apply this to all the animation that makes up the final video, which is one of the main reasons why it takes me so long to finish a project.
To go into detail, the steps I perform for a fragment to reach the WIP state are:
1- Pose: Positioning of the models and optimal bone configuration for turns and movement.
2- "Breathing" Animation: A preliminary animation where I create a simple animation in which all the models move slightly as if they are breathing (it becomes imperceptible in subsequent steps, but I use it as a reference for timing and also as support for some variation).
3- Base Loop: A looped animation that repeats over a period of time for all the main, active secondary, and passive secondary models.
From here on, the animation starts to become complex and takes me the most time:
4- Loop Timing Modifications and Rhythm Changes: Here, taking the script into account, I begin to modify moments within the loop to break or change the nature of that repetition of movements, with different methods such as changing the degrees of turns and positioning, offsetting two or more movements at different time intervals, establishing mechanics or rules, etc.
5- X-axis variation of main bones: I select a set of bones from each model to add to or support step 4, considering only rotations and displacements along the X-axis.
6- Y-axis variation of main bones: I select a set of bones from each model to add to or support step 4, considering only rotations and displacements along the Y-axis.
7- Z-axis variation of main bones: I select a set of bones from each model to add to or support step 4, considering only rotations and displacements along the Z-axis.
8- Frame-by-frame animation: Here I perform precision animation that requires animating frame by frame (in MMD, each second is 30 frames) throughout the entire animation, applied to models of penis, hands, fingers (all 10 or most of them), etc.
Since I took too long this time and didn't even get a single fragment in a "video wip" state, I decided to show only the looped state of two fragments from the same scene this time. This is a very early sample, so the animation will be completed eventually.
I'm considering not limiting myself to waiting to complete all the steps until I have a "Video wip" fragment, as I've done until now, and at least having something to show. This way, I won't be so pressured about the timing between posts, and I can do the other steps at other times.
Finally, I'm planning new changes to the models, expression morphs, and applying a new animation method for arms and hands that will help me achieve this in less time.
