Eternal Realms Arc 5 - Oh No! The Demon Noshitamish is a Masochist! Pages 21-24

One thing that has always been important to me is the facial expressions of the characters. They're often the first thing people notice when reading a comic, and a good expression can tell a story all by itself. Sometimes a single look says more about a character than an entire page of exposition.

We also get a small Nyx cameo here, which might not be the last one in this arc. The entire premise started with a simple idea: how do I create a great scene with a character as powerful and captivating as the Mind Weaver, while still reminding readers that Nyx's influence looms over everything?

No matter how beautiful, confident, or powerful the Mind Weaver may be, she is still one of Nyx's disciples. And if Nyx is willing to send a demon lord like Noshitamish after one of her own apprentices, it raises some interesting questions about what else she might be capable of.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves. This arc is far from over, and the Mind Weaver certainly isn't done with Noshitamish yet. Judging by his reaction, he doesn't seem to mind that one bit.

私にとって常に重要だったのは、キャラクターの表情です。漫画を読むとき、まず最初に目に留まるのは表情であることが多く、優れた表情はそれ自体で物語を語ることができます。時には、たった一瞥が、ページ全体にわたる説明よりも多くのことをキャラクターについて語ることもあります。

また、このエピソードではニクスが少しだけ登場しますが、このストーリーアークにおける最後の登場ではないかもしれません。そもそも、この物語の構想はシンプルなアイデアから始まりました。マインドウィーバーのように強力で魅力的なキャラクターを登場させながら、ニクスの影響力が全てを支配していることを読者に忘れさせないようにするにはどうすれば良いか、というものです。

マインドウィーバーがどれほど美しく、自信に満ち、強力であろうとも、彼女はニクスの弟子の一人に過ぎません。そして、ニクスが自分の弟子の一人を狙ってノシタミッシュのような魔王を送り込むほどの力を持っているということは、彼女が他にどんなことをするのかという興味深い疑問を投げかけます。

しかし、話が少し先走ってしまいましたね。この物語はまだ終わっておらず、マインドウィーバーはノシタミッシュをまだ手放そうとしていない。彼の反応を見る限り、彼はそれを全く気にしていないようだ。
