私の生活は規律そのものだった。
自治会で与えられた「美化委員」の役目を使命感を持ってこなしている。
しかし、隣の家だけ例外だった。
指定日ではない夜、分別もされずに放り出された黒いゴミ袋…なんとかしなくては
意を決して隣の家のチャイムを鳴らす。出てきたのは、
昼間からだらしない部屋着を着た母親だ。
「あー… またゴミのこと？」
悪びれもしない母親の背後、一人の女の子が姿を現した。
「あ、これ娘、登園拒否中、ウケるでしょ、キャハハ」
なるほど登園拒否、隣に住んでいながら、私はその存在を初めて知った。
私が持参した「ゴミ分別マニュアル」を広げ、
必死にルールの説明をしていると娘が足を高く上げ一言
「からだ やーらかいでしょう？」
ペラペラのキャミソールの下は何も履いておらず…
My life is all about discipline.
I carried out my duties as the “Cleanup Committee Member”
assigned by the neighborhood association
with a strong sense of mission.
But the house next door was the only exception.
On a night that wasn’t collection day, a black trash bag
had been tossed out
without being sorted… I had to do something about this.
I steeled myself and rang the doorbell at the neighbor’s house.
The woman who answered was the mother,
still wearing her sloppy loungewear from earlier in the day.
“Oh… Is it about the trash again?”
Behind the mother, who showed no sign of remorse, a young girl appeared.
“Oh, this is my daughter. She’s refusing to go to daycare.”
I see. That’s why, even though she lives next door,
this was the first time I’d ever noticed her.
As I opened the “Garbage Sorting Manual” I’d brought with me
and desperately explained the rules, the daughter lifted her leg high and said,
“Look, I’m really flexible, aren’t I?”
Underneath her flimsy camisole, she wasn’t wearing anything…
