TNA Slammiversary marked what is supposed to be a new era for the company.
Fightful Select reported on a number of creative changes, including Tommy Dreamer being let go from the company. While the statement was read as mutual, TNA let him go. He had a few supporters in the company, but most of the talent seemed eager to move on and had long been frustrated with creative.
Hunter Johnston aka Delirious immediately ascended, and a longtime TNA name told us that they were excited to see what he would do. One source indicated that he had not been in danger of being let go when Dreamer was because Johnston was not a part of the creative problems in TNA.
Eric Tompkins is also taking more of a hand in creative, according to TNA sources. He was responsible for the vision of the AJ Francis segment a couple of weeks ago that got great reviews. TNA talent also said he's contributed a ton to other segments over the years.
Road Dogg is coming into the company, and has been planned for quite some time. He was backstage at Slammiversary, but we haven't heard if he contributed. We're told that some past regimes had actually spoke well of Road Dogg, and said that they thought he would be a good person to bring in if available.
We've not been told of any major changes to the planned directions of creative over the last few weeks. The Women's TV Title was also in the works for a bit, and clearly is still happening.
TNA sources that we spoke to were very happy with how the show went, and the reception to Slammiversary. There was a lot of good internal reaction for the in-ring product, in addition to that.
