Due to WWE Women's Champion Rhea Ripley's meniscus injury, an Interim WWE Women's Champion is going to be crowned via a Ladder match at SummerSlam.WrestleVotes on Fightful Select learned that Ripley's injury forced WWE to make changes to several creative plans, including the originally proposed title match between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair.The current WWE Women's United States Champion Tiffany Stratton was originally slotted to defend her title at SummerSlam in her home state of Minnesota. Stratton is going to be in the Interim WWE Women's Title Ladder match.As for Ripley's injury, a source relayed to WrestleVotes that there was a strong internal push for Ripley to take the neccessary amount of time to fully recover, rather than pushing to make it to SummerSlam. The concern was that the injury could have worsened which would have caused bigger issues down the line. WWE is hopeful that Ripley will be ready to go by the fall.
