DESCRIPTION

I’ve been hard at work creating objects to populate the game’s environment. After realizing how time-consuming it was to draw assets in Clip Studio Paint and then import them into Aseprite, I decided to bite the bullet and start creating everything directly in Aseprite. Not only is it faster, but it also saves me a lot of headaches when it comes to upscaling assets in Unity.

So far in the game, I’ve implemented basic controls that can be mapped to either a keyboard and mouse or a controller. There’s also a placeholder sprite that can move freely around the screen, along with a camera that smoothly follows the player.

Right now, I’m building out a couple of scenes so I can get an animated character walking around and interacting with the environment. I’m also taking this time to set up collisions, so the player can’t just walk over buildings or fences like they’re flat images.

One important feature I’m planning to add is dynamic lighting. Unity supports 2D light sources, and I think adding them will really enhance the atmosphere of the game.

The goal is to get a scene together that perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere I want my game to

I’ll be posting the plot summary for the game as soon as I finish typing it out!
