Is there anyone who handles decayed/damaged 16mm prints who would like a project, and a challenge? I bought a batch of B&W prints of a 60s kids series that I've never seen elsewhere. (One episode seems to circulate as a bootleg but I don't have it. Certain segments circulate but not the full episodes.) Theoretically the whole series was there. Apparently one print ran well enough (though I still don't have a transfer). The rest were trouble. Vinegar syndrome, crystallized, warped and stuck together.
I've sent samples to a few people who couldn't deal with it. One said that it would probably run but the results wouldn't be worth it. One soaked a print in a chemical bath, but it didn't seem to help, and then sent it to someone else in Boston, who I didn't hear back from. (And is now in memory care, with his large collection being disposed of.)
The fellow who has most of the prints currently wants to get rid of them and send them elsewhere. I don't have more money to spend on this. Does anyone want to look at these? DM me.
