DESCRIPTION

A Charlie Brown Christmas 1965 Original Coca Cola Sponsor Scenes

Deleted from the reedited 1966 version, which made many timing, sound and visual changes.

Restored by Garrett Gilchrist. Frame by frame restoration was done to remove a large blue scratch from the center of the film.

Uncompressed version uses Lagarith Codec.

During the skating scene, Snoopy flings Charlie Brown into a tree. The scene continued with Snoopy flinging Linus into a sign which originally read "Danger" (seen in a TV advertisement), and still does for one frame. The sign reads "Brought to you by the Coca Cola Co" as it's shaking, but otherwise has the longer text "Brought to you by the people in your town who bottle Coca Cola." This suggests the scene was changed twice.

The timing of "Christmastime Is Here" is different in this version, and ends with a section apparently not present on the soundtrack album.

"Hark the Herald Angels Sing" is slightly longer at the end and contains a plug for Coca Cola. This was reshot for the later version - Snoopy can be seen singing in the original, Charlie Brown blushes and turns completely red, and the smiles are wider. The falling snow makes this difficult to restore fully, although there is a similar section of the scene before the zoom-out (and during it) which might be useful.

This audio has been restored in stereo for the soundtrack album, several times, which is what you hear here.

I previously posted a restoration in 2022, but here have used DrDre's Color Matching Tool 1.2 to remove a pink tint from the scenes and finally restore the ending here.

Additional sponsor and deleted scenes are included as a bonus.
