Hey everyone!
It’s finally here - the long-awaited progress saving update, along with a few smaller improvements. This one was big, not just in features but also in how much had to change behind the scenes to make everything work properly.
Small stuff first
Let’s get the visible things out of the way:
🔍 New website filter to hide Patreon-only videos, working alongside the AI slop filter.
🔁 Filters now remember their state - once you turn them on, they’ll stay enabled the next time you visit the page.
So don't hesitate to periodically check the video page for new videos: https://the-joi-controller.com/videos - or, of course, you can submit your own.
That’s pretty much it for surface-level changes. Everything else in this update revolves around progress saving.
💾 Progress Saving (Finally!)
Progress saving is now live and will automatically work on supported videos.
Here’s how it works:
When starting a supported video, you’ll be prompted to choose a save slot.
During playback, when certain actions occur, the system will automatically save your progress to that slot. (you will be notified when this happens)
When you return to the video, you simply select the save file and all your progress is restored - items, scores, stats, everything tracked by TJC.
This also works across multi-video series. You can save in one episode and load that same save file in the next video, carrying your progress forward seamlessly.
To put it to some real example so you can imagine it better, look at the very first video that has this feature:
As you can see, it can track visited girls so next time you return it displays a green label that you already completed the route.
You can tell whether the video supports progress saving or not by looking for this icon:
Limitations
💾 Progress saving is currently limited to 6 save slots.
🆓 1 save slot is free for everyone, so you can try the feature without a membership.
Unlimited save slots will be added later as part of follow-up fixes and improvements.
Next and most important, if you’re using the standalone version - either:
Chrome via Script Master injection, or
The native integration on TJD
then please be aware of the following limitation:
🚫 Progress saving does not persist in incognito modeData stored in standalone mode is cleared when the browser (or incognito session) is closed, so saves will be lost.
Workaround
To avoid losing progress, you can:
📤 Export your save files from the settings after finishing a session
📥 Import them again later when you want to continue
This makes it possible to keep long-term progress even when using standalone mode - you just need to remember to export before closing.
Under-the-hood changes (not a feature, but important)
To make progress saving possible, a large part of the extension had to be refactored. This isn’t something you directly "use," but it has major long-term benefits:
The syncing system now supports better reuse of defined actions, which significantly reduces script size.
This makes syncing very complex videos much more manageable going forward - including long-standing queue entries like The Ultimate Grand Lottery.
It also makes future maintenance and updates much less painful (for me 😅).
This refactor was necessary groundwork - progress saving simply wouldn’t be reliable without it.
What’s next?
Nothing (for now)
After a release this big, it’s time to hit the brakes.
For the upcoming month, I’ll be focusing on:
Reworking older videos to properly support inventory + progress saving.
Syncing more queued videos.
Fixing bugs and edge cases that inevitably show up after a big refactor.
No new major features for a bit - stability and polish come first. Once things settle, I’ll put up a new poll to decide what’s next.
💲 Pricing reminder
As announced earlier, the price changes mentioned in this post (https://www.patreon.com/posts/bugfix-patch-for-145915828) will now take effect alongside this update. So don’t be surprised if you receive an email about the adjustment - it was announced long time ago.
