DESCRIPTION

Hey everyone!

This one is mostly background work again, but it lays some important groundwork for what's coming - so bear with me while I explain why this update matters more than it might seem.

Brand new asset manager

Up until now, the extension only supported SVG images, and even that support wasn't great. The biggest problem was that images were embedded directly inside the sync script itself. If multiple elements needed the same image, it had to be copied over and over again, bloating the file unnecessarily. It wasn't practical, so I ended up rarely using images at all.

That changes with this update. There's now a proper asset manager - one central place for images, supporting all common formats including animated GIFs. Elements in the sync script simply reference an asset and it gets loaded once, no matter how many times it's used. Cleaner, smaller, and actually usable.

You won't notice this directly right now, but it opens the door to a lot of things that simply weren't possible before - fancier visual elements instead of plain bordered rectangles, proper item icons, animated visuals, and more. Older scripts can be reworked to take advantage of it too. And yes - the upcoming feature I teased in the previous post will be (or could be) using this as well.

URL resolution fix

A subtle but annoying bug: if you visited a video through a non-standard URL, for example by clicking a notification link that includes tracking parameters the extension would fail to find the correct sync file and behave as if the video wasn't synced at all. That's now fixed.

Skip button now hides when idle

Small quality of life improvement, but a welcome one. Previously, the skip button would stay visible for the entire duration of a lore section, which got pretty distracting if you actually wanted to watch that part. It now behaves like the inventory button - hides when your mouse is idle, reappears when you move it. Simple, but much less intrusive.

Wider inventory panel

The inventory list has been widened slightly. Some items with multiple usage options were getting cut off awkwardly, so there's a bit more room now.

What's next?

The plan from the previous post still stands. I'm continuing work on the secret feature and decided to ship this asset update now since it's ready and useful on its own. Though the new feature will not build directly on top of it, but it could be using it as well.

More soon - thanks for your patience and support as always! ❤️
