{Akari Pov}
I was a ghost.
Or a demon.
Or an oni.
Or Satan.
Hell, I didn’t even know what the correct term for my kind was anymore.
Whatever it was—
I definitely wasn’t human.
‘No wonder I could see this thing… and actually hurt it,’ I thought, my mind racing as everything slowly started to make sense.
Normal people wouldn’t even be able to perceive something like this, let alone grab it, bite it, and eat parts of it like some kind of deranged predator.
And yet… here I was.
Still, something didn’t add up.
If that thing had already realized that I was like it—something not human—then why did it attack me in the first place?
Why didn’t it hesitate?
Why did it treat me like I was a human?
‘Maybe… it was trying to possess this body too?’ I wondered, narrowing my eyes slightly as I stared at it.
Yeah.
That would make sense.
This body—Akari’s body—was probably just an vessel capable of being possessed now that I had devoured this kid's soul
Which means, it tried to take what was mine.
My grip tightened slightly.
But honestly?
It didn’t matter anymore.
Because right now it was trying to run.
The ghost turned around abruptly, its movements frantic and uncoordinated, completely different from the confidence it had earlier. There was no more dominance in its posture, no more arrogance.
Just panic.
“Oi… where do you think you’re going?” I muttered under my breath.
Before it could even take more than a step, I lunged forward.
I grabbed its leg.
Hard.
It let out a sharp, high-pitched yelp, its entire form jerking violently as it tried to pull away from my grip. It struggled, twisting and thrashing, but I wasn’t letting go.
Not anymore.
Not when I finally understood what I could do.
I opened my mouth, wide open.
The sweet smell hit me again, stronger than ever, almost overwhelming my senses. It was intoxicating, addictive, like something my entire existence was craving.
And then—
I slurped.
“SHIAAAAAA—!!”
The ghost’s scream tore through the air, louder than anything before, filled with pure, unfiltered agony. Its body started distorting rapidly, its form breaking apart as if it was being consumed at a fundamental level.
The entire house reacted.
The floor trembled violently beneath us, like an earthquake had suddenly struck out of nowhere. The walls shook, objects rattling uncontrollably as the disturbance spread through every corner of the house.
I heard it clearly vases falling off desks, glass shattering, furniture shifting and tumbling onto the floor.
The sounds echoed chaotically, overlapping into a mess of noise that made everything feel unstable.
The lights flickered wildly.
On.
Off.
On.
Off.
And then—
pop.
Some of the bulbs burst outright, sparks flying briefly before everything dimmed into an unstable, flickering mess.
But none of that mattered to me.
Because I was focused on one thing.
The ghost.
It was melting.
Literally melting into my mouth as I consumed it, its form breaking down and dissolving like it couldn’t maintain its existence anymore. The more I absorbed, the weaker it became, its struggles growing more desperate, more pathetic.
And I—
I enjoyed it.
I actually enjoyed it.
The taste, the sensation, the way it dissolved it was like eating something sweet, something addictive, something I didn’t want to stop eating.
I tightened my grip and pulled it closer, continuing to devour it as it screamed, as it shook, as it slowly ceased to be.
I was sucking it in like it was some kind of twisted strawberry treat.
“Akari-chan!”
I heard it.
A loud, panicked shout that cut straight through everything else.
The voice was familiar but at the same time, it didn’t feel like it belonged to me or maybe it did?
It was strange and confusing to be honest.
My Okaa-san’s voice echoed through the hallway, getting closer with every second. I could hear her footsteps too—fast, uneven, almost stumbling as she rushed toward the room.
Wait…how the hell could I hear her from that far away?
That didn’t make any sense.
The distance, the walls, the noise from everything breaking around me—I should not have been able to pick that up so clearly.
And yet—
I did.
Every step.
Every breath.
Every bit of panic in her voice.
But I couldn’t focus on it for long.
Because something else was taking over.
Something stronger.
The sensation flooding my body intensified as I finished devouring the ghost. That same overwhelming sweetness, that intoxicating feeling—it surged through me like a drug, drowning out everything else.
My thoughts started slipping.
My focus blurred.
I felt…good.
Too good.
It wasn’t just relief.
It was something closer to ecstasy.
Something addictive.
Something that made me want more.
And for a moment—
I forgot everything else.
Then—
crack.
The mirror in front of me suddenly fractured.
A thin line appeared across its surface—
then another—
and another—
until—
shatter.
It broke apart completely, the glass collapsing in on itself as if it couldn’t withstand whatever I had become. The pieces scattered across the floor, reflecting fragments of me for a split second before going still.
For some reason…it felt like it shattered out of fear.
And then everything blurred.
The next thing I remember was warmth.
Soft and familiar grasp.
I blinked slowly, my vision clearing just enough to see her.
Okaa-san.
She was right there, tears streaming down her face, her expression filled with panic, fear, and relief all at once. Her arms were wrapped tightly around me, pulling me into her chest like she was afraid I would disappear if she let go.
Her body was shaking.
Her grip was tight.
But I didn’t resist.
I just… let it happen.
My mind was still hazy, still recovering from whatever the hell I just did.
And in that moment looking up at her face, at the way she was crying, at how desperately she was holding onto me a random thought crossed my mind.
‘…She’s cute.’
Yeah.
Something was definitely wrong with me.
...
{3rd POV}
“Takeshi!”
Keiko cried out as she rushed forward and hugged her husband tightly, almost as if she was afraid he might disappear if she let go. Her hands clutched the back of his shirt, her body trembling from panic and exhaustion.
Takeshi looked down at her, clearly alarmed by her state. He had never seen her this shaken before. His brows furrowed as concern quickly took over his expression.
“What happened to Akari?” he asked, his voice filled with nervousness.
“Why is he in the hospital? Did something happen at home?”
“I-it is my fault,” Keiko said, her voice breaking as she struggled to speak properly.
“I should not have left him alone like that. I thought it would be fine since it was just for a short while. I am such a bad mother.”
She broke down again, her words dissolving into quiet sobs as tears continued to fall. Her grip on Takeshi tightened, as if she was holding on to the only thing keeping her steady.
Takeshi felt his chest tighten at her words, but he did not let his own worry show too much. He gently placed a hand on her back and started patting it in a slow and steady rhythm, trying to calm her down even though his own mind was racing with questions.
“It is not your fault,” he said quietly, though there was a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
“Let us just wait and hear what the doctors say first.”
At that moment, the door to the patient room opened and a nurse stepped out.
She looked around briefly before her gaze settled on the two of them standing in the hallway.
“Is Kurose Akari your son?” she asked in a professional tone.
Takeshi nodded immediately.
“Yes, he is our son,” he replied, stepping slightly forward.
“Can you please tell us if he is alright? What happened to him?”
The nurse gave a small reassuring smile.
“We have completed the initial checks,” she said.
“There do not appear to be any abnormalities at the moment. His vital signs are stable, and there are no visible injuries or concerning symptoms.”
For a brief moment, both of them seemed to relax, even if only slightly.
However, the nurse’s expression shifted just a little as she glanced to the side.
Someone was approaching.
A police officer was walking down the hallway toward them, his presence immediately changing the atmosphere.
“We suspect that someone broke into your house and attempted to kidnap the child,” the officer said in a steady and professional voice.
“There are dirty footprints inside the house and several signs of struggle in different areas, which suggest that someone was present and that some kind of confrontation took place. However, we are confused because the trail of those footprints suddenly disappears, and the child himself appears to be completely uninjured.”
Keiko’s expression changed instantly as she heard that.
She pulled slightly away from Takeshi and looked directly at the officer, her eyes filled with anger and disbelief.
“What do you mean?” she demanded, her voice shaking.
“What do you mean by saying my child is uninjured like that? The way you said it makes it sound like it is something bad. Are you saying you expected him to be hurt?”
The officer raised his hands slightly in a calming gesture, clearly trying to avoid escalating the situation.
“Madam, please do not misunderstand,” he replied.
“We do not mean anything negative by it. It is just that the situation itself is very unusual. Based on the condition of the house and the evidence we observed, there should have been at least some injuries. But your son does not have even a single scratch, not even minor marks that would normally result from a struggle.”
He paused for a moment before continuing, choosing his words more carefully.
“The state of the house is also difficult to explain. Several objects were displaced, some items were broken, and it almost looks as if there was an earthquake inside the house. However, there has been no report of any seismic activity in the area. That is why the case appears inconsistent with what we usually encounter.”
Takeshi remained silent, but his expression grew more serious as he listened.
Keiko, on the other hand, looked conflicted, her emotions shifting between fear, confusion, and frustration.
The officer let out a small breath, as if acknowledging how strange everything sounded even to himself.
“In any case,” he added, “the only way we can understand what actually happened is by speaking to your son directly. We will need to ask him a few questions once he is in a stable condition.”
At this point, it was clear to everyone present that no amount of speculation would solve anything.
If they wanted answers, they would have to hear it from Akari himself.
...
Finally, after about an hour had passed, Akari slowly regained consciousness.
His eyes opened gradually, his vision still slightly blurry as his mind struggled to catch up with his surroundings.
‘Where am I?’ he thought, trying to make sense of what he was seeing.
He looked around the room and quickly realized that he was in a hospital.
The clean white walls, the faint sound of medical equipment, and the overall quiet atmosphere made it obvious enough.
But something felt off.
He could smell it again.
That same sweet scent.
It was faint compared to before, but it was still there, lingering in the air as if it had spread throughout the entire hospital. It was subtle, but noticeable enough that he could not ignore it.
And that was not all.
If he focused a little, he could also sense something else.
Several presences in the hospital with dark aura similar to the one he had encountered earlier.
They were not close, but they were there, scattered somewhere in the distance, like faint signals that only he could detect.
As he slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position, still trying to process everything, a voice suddenly broke his thoughts.
“Oh, you are awake!”
He turned his head toward the sound.
Standing there was a nurse.
She had short blue hair and green eyes, and for a moment, Akari just stared at her without saying anything.
Because she looked like she had walked straight out of an anime.
“???”
Akari was genuinely confused.
This was the first time he had seen someone like that up close. Bright hair color, vivid eyes, everything about her appearance felt unreal by his previous life’s standards.
And yet…it did not feel strange.
That was the weird part.
It felt completely normal.
In fact, as he searched through his current memories, he realized something else.
People like this were not unusual here.
Different hair colors, different eye colors, slightly different facial features. Even the general appearance of people seemed different compared to what he remembered from his previous life.
Even the Japanese people here looked different.
It was as if someone had taken the real world and replaced all humans with slightly stylized versions of themselves.
Like turning everyone into anime versions while keeping everything else the same.
And somehow, this world treated that as completely normal.
“Are you okay, Akari-chan? Tell me, how are you feeling right now?” the nurse asked as she stepped closer to him, her expression filled with concern.
Akari snapped out of his thoughts and looked at her properly. He nodded after a brief pause.
“Hai, I am feeling alright,” he replied, trying to sound normal even though his mind was still not completely settled.
“I knew it. Akari-chan is a strong boy,” she said with a gentle and encouraging smile. “You will not mind if onee-san checks on you, right?”
She leaned a little closer as she spoke, clearly preparing to examine him.
Akari immediately reacted.
He shuddered.
Then he instinctively moved backward on the bed, creating distance between them without even thinking about it.
The reaction surprised even him.
But the reason was obvious due to the last encounter he had with that thing or ghost.
Even though the situation had ended with him being the one who devoured it in a way far more disturbing than anything it tried to do to him, the fear from that moment had not completely disappeared.
It was still there, buried somewhere inside him.
And it came back the moment someone got too close.
There had been a reason why he felt so terrified when that ghost stared at him like that.
It had looked him with an expression as if examining a prey and back then, before everything went insane, he had genuinely thought that thing was some kind of pervert.
A dangerous one.
And considering everything he knew about Japan from his previous life, especially all those stories and jokes about how ridiculous crimes could get, like people stealing panties as if it was some kind of normal occurrence, it did not help his mindset at all.
It only made his imagination worse.
So in that moment, he had truly believed that whatever that thing was, whether it was a man, a ghost, or something else entirely, it was going to do something far worse than just kill him.
Something much more terrifying.
Something he did not even want to think about.
And yet in the end he was the one who did something far worse.
Hehe.
“Akari-chan, Onee-san is sorry for scaring you earlier,” she said softly as she held his hand in a gentle and careful manner. “If you want, I can call your Okaa-san and Otou-san right away.”
She gave him another reassuring smile, trying to calm him down.
In her mind, she was already feeling bad.
‘Poor kid, he must have gone through something really frightening,’ she thought, completely unaware that the child sitting in front of her was probably one of the most dangerous things inside the entire hospital at that moment.
Akari looked at her hand for a second, then back at her face.
“I see,” he said slowly, as if he was still processing everything.
“Onee-san, I would like to meet my okaa san and otou san.”
He paused briefly after saying that he needed time to think to figure out what exactly he was going to say.
Because there was no way he could just tell the truth.
‘Should I just blame everything on a ghost?’ Akari wondered internally, his expression remaining mostly calm on the outside.
It sounded ridiculous.
But at the same time, after everything that just happened, it was not even that far from reality.
Still, something else bothered him.
How the people looked different now that he had focused on it.
The unnatural but somehow normal appearance of everyone around him.
That nurse's blue hair and green eyes combo, which somehow looked natural compared to the cosplays of his previous life.
Everything about this world felt slightly off compared to what he remembered from his previous life.
And that led him to a different conclusion.
‘Wait…’
‘Am I in some kind of anime world?’
The thought settled in his mind quickly, and the more he considered it, the more it started to make sense.
People with different appearances, strange phenomena that shouldn't exits like that Creepy ass spirit.
Things that should not exist in a normal world.
‘Then… which world is this?’ he wondered, his thoughts becoming more serious.
A name popped up in his mind almost immediately.
Jujutsu Kaisen.
And the moment he thought of it, his body tensed slightly.
He genuinely hoped he was wrong.
Because if he really had ended up in a world like that then his situation was much worse than he initially thought.
After all, he was not even human anymore.
Not really.
He was something closer to a cursed spirit.
Something that had taken over a human body.
‘Fuck… if that is actually true, then I am seriously screwed,’ he thought, the realization sinking in as a wave of frustration hit him.
If this really was that kind of world, then he could not afford to stay weak.
He needed to get stronger as soon as possible before some Jujutsu sorcerer showed up out of nowhere and exorcised him like he was nothing.
‘And that is not even the worst part,’ he continued thinking, his head starting to hurt from the stress alone.
‘There is the Honoured One, that walking cheat code, then that Potential Man, the King of Curses, and that main character with plot armour as thick as Maki's thighs’
He let out a quiet breath, already feeling a headache forming as he forced himself to stop thinking about the rest of the characters in that world.
There were way too many insane people there, and the more he thought about them, the worse it felt.
Meanwhile, the nurse did not waste any time.
She stepped out briefly and called for his parents, informing them that Akari had regained consciousness.
It did not even take a minute.
His parents rushed in almost immediately, clearly having been waiting nearby the entire time.
“Akari!” his mother cried out the moment she saw him, her voice filled with relief and lingering fear.
Without hesitation, she ran toward him and pulled him into a tight embrace, holding him as if she never wanted to let go again.
She was crying and not quietly either.
Her shoulders trembled as she hugged him, her grip firm but not painful, just desperate.
“Madam, it is best not to disturb the patient too much right now,” the nurse said as she watched the scene, a slight twitch appearing on her lips as she tried to remain professional despite the emotional situation.
“I apologize for her behavior,” Takeshi said politely, giving a small bow toward the nurse.
“She has been extremely worried about our son since the incident.”
He then looked toward his wife, who was still hugging Akari tightly, tears continuing to fall from her eyes.
His own expression softened slightly, though the concern had not left his face at all.
“Akari-chan, are you really really okay? My baby, you are not feeling hurt anywhere, right?” Keiko asked anxiously, her face full of worry as tears continued to fall down her cheeks.
She kept looking over him as if trying to confirm with her own eyes that he was truly unharmed.
“Okaa-san, I am not hurt at all. In fact, Okaa-san scared that creepy uncle away and saved me,” he said cheerfully, putting on an innocent expression as if nothing serious had happened.
His words immediately shocked everyone in the room.
“Creepy uncle?” Takeshi repeated, his expression turning serious again.
“Akari, can you tell us exactly what happened?”
Before Akari could even respond, Takeshi felt a sharp glare directed at him.
He turned slightly and saw Keiko staring at him with clear disapproval, which made him awkwardly scratch the back of his head.
“Hmph, forget your dad, he is just being dumb right now,” Keiko said, dismissing him without hesitation before turning her full attention back to Akari.
Her tone softened instantly as she spoke again.
“Tell me, Akari-chan, are you feeling hungry? My baby boy must not have eaten anything properly.”
Takeshi let out a quiet sigh at that, already regretting asking his question in the first place.
‘Yeah… I should not have said anything,’ he thought to himself, choosing to stay quiet for now instead of arguing.
Meanwhile, the nurse stood to the side, watching the interaction unfold.
She could not help but let out a small chuckle as she observed the situation.
Despite everything that had happened, the family still felt warm, energetic, and full of life, which made the atmosphere in the room feel a little lighter than before.
Although Akari kept insisting that he was completely fine, Keiko did not stop even for a second.
She kept checking him over and over again, her hands moving from his shoulders to his face, as if she was afraid she might miss some hidden injury.
At the same time, she continued crying, repeatedly blaming herself under her breath for leaving him alone.
She also kept placing kisses all over his face without any restraint, clearly overwhelmed with relief that he was safe.
‘What kind of luck is this?’ Akari thought, completely caught off guard by the situation. ‘Instead of getting a strict and scary Asian mom, I ended up with a cute one? Do not tell me I have actually escaped from that curse.’
He was genuinely shocked at what he considered an unbelievable stroke of luck.
Of course, whether that was actually a curse or not was entirely subjective.
...
Later on, after Akari had finally eaten some food and calmed down a little, the police officers arrived to ask their questions.
The atmosphere in the room shifted slightly as they entered, becoming more serious compared to before.
“Akari-chan, can you tell us what happened?” the police officer asked with a gentle smile, clearly trying to make himself seem as approachable and non threatening as possible for a child.
Akari looked at him for a moment, his expression remaining neutral as his mind quickly went over the explanation he had already prepared.
In the end, he decided to stick with it.
He told them everything he had come up with.
Technically, almost all of it was true.
The only thing he left out was the fact that the man he encountered was not human.
Apparently, Akari explained that a creepy man had been staring at him through the window for a while, which had already made him uncomfortable.
Then, according to his story, the man suddenly jumped over the wall and started trying to enter the house, which naturally made things even more frightening.
This part of the explanation immediately confused the police.
According to Keiko, the main gate had been properly closed when she arrived back at the house, and there were no obvious signs that someone had entered through it.
That detail did not seem to match with what Akari was describing, which made the situation feel even more strange.
In fact, Keiko had only realized that something was wrong because the entire house had been shaking violently when she returned.
The abnormal movement of objects, the sounds from inside, and the overall condition of the house had instantly made her panic and rush inside to check on Akari.
That was what led her to find him in that state.
After hearing both sides, the police officers took a moment to think things through and tried to piece together a reasonable explanation.
Thankfully, they were able to come up with something that at least sounded logical.
They assumed that one of the windows might have been left open, which allowed the man to enter the house without using the main gate.
After getting inside, he could have closed the window behind him to avoid suspicion and make it seem like there was no clear entry point.
They also considered the possibility that the footprints found inside were intentionally placed to confuse the investigation.
“That makes sense,” the police officer said after thinking it over.
“He was probably trying to create fake evidence to make it harder for us to track him properly. We did not find any clear handprints or solid identifying marks, so we will need to investigate further and check if he left anything behind that we might have missed.”
Even as he said that, the officer himself was aware that the case still had too many strange elements.
But for now, this was the most reasonable explanation they had.
“Sir, is there any chance that the man might return?” Takeshi asked, his face showing clear worry as he looked toward the officer.
The thought of someone dangerous coming back to target his child again was not something he could easily ignore.
The police officer paused for a moment before answering, choosing his words carefully.
“Probably, or probably not,” he replied honestly.
“This case is quite confusing, and we do not have a clear understanding of the suspect’s intentions yet. However, it would be best if all of you remain cautious for the next few days while we continue our investigation and gather more information.”
His tone was calm, but it did not offer complete reassurance.
“I think it would be better to keep Akari in the hospital for a few days,” the nurse suggested, stepping into the conversation after listening quietly.
“He will be safer here under supervision, and the doctors can also properly observe his mental condition. Situations like this can leave emotional scars, and in some cases, children develop trauma or even conditions like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder if not handled carefully.”
Takeshi and Keiko both listened seriously.
“I agree,” the officer added with a nod.
“That sounds like a reasonable approach. It ensures both his safety and his well being. Of course, the final decision depends on you as his parents.”
Takeshi glanced at Keiko before speaking again.
“Keiko, I think what they are saying makes sense,” he said in a steady voice.
“It is not just about safety. It will also help us make sure Akari is not mentally affected by what happened.”
He hesitated slightly before adding the next part.
“Also… I will need to return to work tomorrow.”
His tone carried a hint of reluctance.
Life as a Japanese salaryman was not easy.
He could not suddenly take long breaks without consequences.
The last thing he wanted was to give his boss a reason to complain or create trouble for him at work.
So even if he wanted to stay, reality did not give him that luxury.
Keiko nodded slowly after hearing everything, although there was still a trace of frustration on her face.
She was not happy that Takeshi could not take time off from work during a situation like this, but at the same time, she understood how difficult it was for him.
His job was not something he could casually step away from, and she knew that pushing him would only create more problems.
At the same time, she also felt uneasy about handling everything on her own.
If that creepy man really did come back, she was not confident that she would be able to protect Akari properly.
Even so, as a mother, she knew one thing for certain.
She would still put her life on the line for her son without hesitation.
“Akari-chan, are you okay with staying here in the hospital for a few days while we catch the bad guy?” she asked gently, her voice soft but still carrying a hint of concern.
Akari looked at her and nodded without much hesitation.
“Do not worry, Okaa-san, I am a big boy,” he said, trying to sound reassuring in his own way.
“Oh, my precious son!” Keiko immediately responded, her emotions rising again as she pulled him into another tight hug.
She rubbed her cheek against his affectionately, clearly unable to hold back her relief and love.
Akari did not resist.
He just stayed there quietly for a moment.
‘My parents in this life are really something,’ he thought, observing them with a complicated expression.
There was warmth and care for them in his eyes, and there was something which was not totally unexpected.
He felt a sense of guilt because deep down, he knew something they did not.
He had not simply taken over this life in a clean way.
From what he could understand, he had likely devoured the original boy.
Not just his body, but his entire soul which resulted in the current possession like state.
The thought lingered in his mind, making things feel heavier than before.
‘Is this my innate technique?’ he wondered, trying to make sense of what he had done earlier.
He still was not completely sure if he had actually ended up in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen or if this was something else entirely.
But regardless of that, he needed to understand what kind of being he was.
‘Maybe staying in the hospital for a few days will help me figure things out,’ he thought.
He needed time to observe the other similiar beings that are present in the hospital and figure out what was going on.
Because he was certain of one thing.
There were many stories and worlds that involved spirits and supernatural beings.
It was not limited to just one.
‘So this could be something else too,’ he concluded quietly.
And until he figured it out he needed to be careful.
To be continued...
