It's been a few years since I explored this concept. I am a bit of a vintage horror movie buff, so I have this hyena grandpa character who's considered a legendary makeup and gore effects artist in universe. Last time I drew him, he was very carefully embedding a fake axe into Tre's skull for halloween, here he is in his youth during the 80s, working on set with another grandpa character of mine (Jasper) to hopefully make this impalement scene look gnarly and "real".
I love exploring this subject, but its rare that I do. I view it as one of those things that only really I will get much out of... but boy, when I do, its a powerful catharsis. I enjoy the genre its based in a ton, I love this concept of "behind the scenes" stuff, the idea that Jasper is just in a string of cheesy 80s horror flicks as manservice where he is just gratuitously naked in a scene or two, only to be killed off... if he's not a male lead, he's the stupid best friend who's sure he's got the game to them all laid and instead just finds himself on the business end of a slasher's pike. IDK, it's a lot of fun to me.
