DEVLOG #8⚙️ [Version 0.5.0]

Hey Patrons,

I owe you a proper update regarding the next version of Lost Lagoon. Since this will be a bigger update with lots of visual changes, I wanted to present it in a small Q&A format to address the most likely questions right away.

Q: Did…did Palmeira really make another “makeover”?A: Short answer - hmm… kind of.I finally decided to completely move away from AI-generated assets. Over time, working with AI became more frustrating than helpful. The limitations made it difficult to express what I actually wanted, and it started to hold back my creativity and more important - the fun I have creating Lost Lagoon.

To move forward and honestly, to enjoy working on my very first game again, I made the decision to replace all AI-generated content (mostly characters + scenes) with 3D-rendered assets. This gives me far more control and flexibility, allowing for more immersive scenes and more expressive, lively characters.

It was one of the toughest decisions during development, but now that I’ve already created a lot of new scenes, I can confidently say: I don’t regret it at all. I think most of you will really like the new inhabitants of the island!

Q: Is that why the update took so long?A: Yes, that’s the main reason.Learning new tools for character creation and animation, while also reworking large parts of the game visually, takes a significant amount of time. On top of that, switching the entire workflow/pipeline is no small task.

That said, this change allows me to improve the overall quality of the game in a meaningful way...so the extra time will absolutely be worth it!

Q: Will any content be lost because of these changes?A: No, nothing will be removed. In fact, I’m doing the opposite: I’m expanding and improving existing content wherever possible. The goal is not just to replace visuals, but to enhance the overall experience.

The only significant thing you'll miss for now is Nura. I merged her with Mara because it felt right for me. But don't worry - Nura is still part of the game and will have a comeback! EDIT: Nevermind, Mara and Nura will both be there from the beginning!

Q: Get to the point man...when is the next update coming?!A: Good news! The next update is planned for the end of April. Right now, I’m focused on polishing and refining the updated content to make sure everything meets the new standard.
