I'm finally brave enough to try this stuff, and it's kind of awesome but so much slower than I realized it would be. The curing time on it is crazy, which makes the work time on it crazy too, so that's fun. I have to hold on to these for so long before I can sell them, since they need to cure then get a varnish coat and then /that/ needs to cure before I can mail them, but it's so fun, and makes me feel like a 'real' artist to be working in oils. These two are done on wood panels, and are 8X10 inches each. Something I was not expecting while working with oils was the scent. My dad was a luthier, and in the process of making the instruments, he'd have to stain the wood, and the scent put me back in his workshop. It was a crazy feeling to suddenly just be mentally /with/ my dad again. He died in 2016, but for a split second the whole decade was wiped away.The fox piece is already sold, but I plan on selling the pin-up of Lindsey on the phone once everything's cured enough that I think I can pack it up, and I do plan on doing more of these!The last pic is not oil, it's india ink and watercolor of baby Cringer (Battle Cat) from Masters of the Universe. I just did it for myself for fun, and liked how it turned out! I may change how I do watercolors going forward thanks to this piece.
