A Main Menu Override That Respects Your Space.
Refreshed Main Menu comes with a brand-new style, tons of quality-of-life improvements, and 37 modular backgrounds.
✨ New April 2025 Features ✨
🟩 No Fullscreen Ads at Launch
Upon launching the game, you’ll no longer be greeted by those full-screen ads promoting new packs, sales, or events.
🟩 Blue Overlay Glitch Fix
If you experienced an annoying blue overlay glitch affecting the main menu, it’s finally a thing of the past! This mod resolves the glitch introduced by Maxis.
🟩 Ultrawide Screen Support
The new main menu introduced by Maxis this year was locked to a 16:9 resolution, leaving wider screens with black bars on the sides. But not anymore! This mod brings full ultrawide screen support — your menu will now cover the entire screen, with UI elements dynamically adjusting to their correct positions.
🟦 Optional: Family Portrait with No Frame
By popular demand, I’ve included an optional file that removes my custom picture frame behind the family portrait. This is yet another optional file to let you make the Refreshed Main Menu truly yours!
🟩 Now you can toggle the family portrait with the F key!
IMPORTANT: It’s impossible to tweak every single portrait size, so I’ve included an optional file called “SmallerFamilyPortrait.” If you use this file, the family will always fit within the picture frame, but depending on the number of Sims, they might appear a bit too small.
If you want your Sims to appear larger, don’t use the “SmallerFamilyPortrait” file. This setup works best for families with 1 OR 4 Sims. Other families will most likely go beyond the frame.
Changes will apply once you refresh your family portrait, such as by deleting the thumbnail cache file.
To better illustrate the issue, here’s a comparison:
HOW TO INSTALL THIS MOD:
1. Put the SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_BASE.package file in your Mods folder.This file is required for the mod to work.
2. Choose the backgrounds you want from the Backgrounds folder.You can mix and match the backgrounds. Use all, choose the favorites, or stick to just one – the choice is yours. Previews with names are listed below.
3. The OPTIONAL folder contains optional files to adjust the Refreshed Main Menu to your needs.☑️ Choose only the features you want to use:
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_AltLogo.package – changes the game’s logo in the upper left corner.
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_FamilyPortraitInitiallyVisible.package – makes the family portrait visible by default when entering the main menu; without this file the family is initially hidden and can be seen with the F key.
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_FamilyPortrait_NoFrame.package – displays the family portrait without the custom picture frame behind it.
SimMattically_RefreshedMainMenu_SmallerFamilyPortrait.package – ensures the family always fits within the custom picture frame (not always necessary, see details in the section above).
