Thanks again for your continued support. As we've just posted to all members we’re currently finishing off our 4th Free Content Update, and we’re hoping to share details publicly tomorrow. It’s genuinely close now, and we’ll get it into your hands as soon as we can — ideally this week, or very early next.
For our top-tier members, we also wanted to share some more candid context about what’s going on at Three Fields right now and the options we are considering....
As you know, the studio is under real pressure. The team is operating under the ongoing risk of redundancy, and while we have limited time, we’re continuing to push forward for as long as we responsibly can.
What’s important to say is this: we really don’t want this to be the end. We’re having a huge amount of fun updating Wreckreation, talking directly to players, and acting on what we hear. That connection - and the response from the community - is what’s driving us to keep going.
We’re being deliberately open here, and we’re trusting that this information stays within this group. So far, you’ve given us thoughtful, constructive feedback, and we genuinely value that. Please feel free to comment below or DM us privately with your thoughts.
Below is an outline of what we’re actively doing and considering.
1. Growing the Wreckreation Player Base
Continued updates, content drops, and direct community responsiveness remain, in our experience, the most effective way to extend a game’s long-term sales tail, especially for a title that relies heavily on word of mouth.
If active support were to stop, it’s inevitable that sales momentum would taper off, particularly in the absence of ongoing promotional support. That’s why we’re so focused on continuing meaningful updates.
We’d also love to offer a demo or free trial, but realistically that requires us to still be here to support it. This is something we’re discussing with THQ, and we’re hopeful for positive news.
2. Patreon
We’ve been genuinely encouraged by the support so far. The key challenge is surviving long enough for organic growth to reach a level where it contributes meaningfully to our costs.
We could add more higher tiers, but Patreon already allows people to give more if they wish, and we’d prefer that over diluting or fragmenting the current tiers (with one possible exception - see point 4).
In the next update, we’re adding a Patreon tab into the in-game stats screen for players who may not yet know about it. This will also be when credits recognition and the Early Supporter Livery go live. It’s intentionally subtle - we don’t want to ram it down anyone’s throat.
Jules has also very kindly recorded some VO for this. We gave her a rough script… she did what Jules does and ad-libbed beautifully. We’ll share that below.
3. Paid DLC / Microtransactions
This isn’t something we’re seriously pursuing at the moment, but it does exist as an option. Realistically, it would only make sense if we were able to renegotiate aspects of our deal with THQ - under the current arrangement, they would take the revenue for work we would be funding ourselves.
4. A New Standalone Project
We currently have a pitch for a standalone crashing-focused game. One option would be to put this up on Steam very soon to begin gathering wishlists, with a view to entering Early Access relatively quickly.
The downside: this content wouldn’t make it into Wreckreation. The upside: Patreon members could potentially access it as part of their tier benefits.
This is a meaningful fork in the road, and we’d really like your thoughts on this one.
5. Other Revenue Streams
We’re also investigating additional options:
Co-development or support work with other studios
Tax credits
Bringing Dangerous Driving to Steam (which is harder than it sounds)
Thank you again for being here and for engaging with us at this level. We don’t take your trust lightly, and your feedback genuinely helps shape what we do next.
What are we missing?
