Today we go again one year back in time to November 2024, and back to the music for the Greek-mythology play I was asked to write music for in 2024, which didn’t materialize (yet?).
Starting with “Ships”, which is supposed to paint a wave-like feeling, pushing upward in the stream as the strong tides carry you away.
“Jan Dar” is a sketch for a choral-like piece, meant to be sung by people, something like the known Greek chorus.
And to finish for this time - “Still Fishes Lead You Back”, which is a personal idea connected to a theme that could fit the play.
I want to add a notion I had while making this post. The immediate nature of getting fast results from music you make with a computer can sometimes get in the way of the creation, as you start looking for the end result before the idea has materialized. The idea in some of these sketches is simply painting the notion of something that will come later, which gives it a bit more breathing space. It’s something I’ve started to realize slowly in recent years, and I’m slowly trying to incorporate this conclusion into my work, to bring more order into the “hats” you switch between in the process.
