Yesterday I saw for the first time something that I had wished to experience for a long time: the opera Wozzeck by Alban Berg. I had heard it once some years ago and was hoping to see it live ever since. It was a very special experience, as I find this piece to be one of the most inspiring pieces of music ever written.
Today I share with you some fragmented sketches from 2022, which are somehow related in my mind to the pieces I was listening to back then, and also to Wozzeck.
These are undeveloped, fragmented ideas that might have later found a voice in Within. I hear there, again, similar things to what I described in my last “Anno Zero” post, but from a different angle. It’s a vast, dry desert, with ideas of getting close to the sun and touching it one day, only feeling the glare from far, as if you’re just watching it, but there’s a need for more.
It can also be seen as just a “clashing” type of project, where things are again being thrown at each other to see how they react and how they come together. This kind of lab is sometimes necessary for me.
I wish you all a happy new year full of creation and tension.
