Hello, today I’m sharing some of the early versions of what eventually became the music for the ILL trailer. While I can’t reveal too much, I can say that parts of it may have started from elements originally created for the soundtrack, before being re-composed and shaped into the trailer music.
Version 0 is the very first one, where I created a couple of variations of the main feeling we wanted to achieve. Everything else was then built around that.
In Version 3, you can hear how it is starting to take shape within the fuller composition, and that most of the arrangement is already there. While it is a bit different, it served as a solid foundation.
In Version 7, I also added the first part (the first 20 seconds), and the whole thing was starting to tie together.
Then came the smaller changes, which are usually the ones that take the most versions. By that point, you already have the core of the piece, but changing certain things can make you want to return to earlier versions. Hence the many versions. In Version 21, you can hear the music of the almost-final version, already being mixed (and automated) to fit the rest of the trailer's audio, as I was also doing the mix and had to consider the dialogue and SFX.
The final version came in Version 26, which you can hear in the actual trailer, as well as in the last part of the playlist.
