DESCRIPTION

The next few days at the Burrow passed in their usual warm, chaotic rhythm. Mrs. Weasley mothered him, Ron entertained him, the twins terrorized him, and Hermione insisted on proper study habits—even on summer holiday.

But every morning without fail, the System harassed him.

[Daily Draw: Common Tier – Reward Delivered!] **→ Item: “Miniature Walrus Plush (Mumbling Variant)” [Statistically worthless. Possibly cursed. Hard to say.]

Harry shoved that one to the bottom of his trunk.

The next morning:

[Daily Draw: Common Tier – Reward Delivered!] **→ One (1) Glow-in-the-Dark Turnip [Do not eat. Seriously. Don’t.]

By the third day, another item appeared: a paper fan that did absolutely nothing except occasionally insult him in Japanese.

Harry was beginning to feel personally attacked by the multiverse.

Quest: Back-to-School Basics

Arthur finally had a day off, and the trip to Diagon Alley was set. Harry woke to a crisp ping.

[Quest Issued: “Back-to-School Basics!” – Common Difficulty] Objectives: • Buy new textbooks • Restock potion ingredients • Get owl treats Reward: One (1) Common Ticket Bonus Objective: Avoid being dragged into Weasley arguments (0/1) [Difficulty: Impossible]

“Fantastic,” Harry muttered, rolling out of bed.

[Optimism detected. Concerning.]

Downstairs, Mrs. Weasley was packing sandwiches with battlefield-level determination. Hermione reviewed her list—organized into subsections—while the twins whispered suspiciously. Ron kept asking where his left shoe had gone. Arthur was already waiting by the fireplace, smiling patiently.

They Flooed into Diagon Alley, and before Harry could brush the soot off—

[Checkpoint Complete: “Enter Bookstore.”]

“Do you ever shut up?” Harry whispered.

[Only when you’re asleep. Usually.]

They collected textbooks—Hermione bought extra books, obviously—then stopped by the apothecary, where the System chimed three separate times about not touching volatile ingredients. Hedwig’s owl treats were next, earning another triumphant jingle.

[Quest Progress: 3/3. Reward pending.]

“Great. Another Common Ticket,” Harry muttered.

[Correct. Temper your excitement.]

A Window and a Trigger

They were heading toward Florean Fortescue’s when Harry paused. A shop window caught his eye—silky fabrics, elegant embroidery, enchanted threads glimmering under lanternlight.

Dress robes.

For a moment, Harry stared blankly. He hadn’t even thought about formal wear for the school year. Why would he? Hogwarts rarely required anything beyond uniforms and the occasional dragon dodge.

He opened his mouth to ask Ron—and froze as a new notification materialized.

[Hidden Quest Triggered: “A Proper Wizard’s Wardrobe” – Rare Difficulty] Objective: Obtain suitable dress robes Reward: One (1) Rare Rank Item [You discovered the requirement faster than expected. I’m shocked. Truly.]

Harry groaned. “Oh no. Don’t tell me—”

Ron blinked at the window. “Oh. Those.

Mrs. Weasley, who had doubled back to check on them, huffed. “Ronald, don’t look like that. Yours are already handled—you’ll have them before term starts.”

Ron sighed in relief.

Hermione brightened. “My mum took me shopping for mine before the World Cup. There was a shop in London with this lovely enchanted seamstress—oh! And she showed me how the color-shifting thread—”

“Good for you,” Ron said, slightly dazed.

Harry blinked. “So I’m the only one who doesn’t have them?”

Mrs. Weasley patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, dear. We’ve still got time to pick out something nice for you today.”

Harry tried to smile, but inside:

[Emotional Distress Detected.] [Suggestion: Accept your fate with dignity.]

“Shut up,” he whispered.

[No.]

Ron muttered, “Better you than me, mate,” but he grinned good-naturedly as Harry stepped toward the shop doorway.

Hermione added, “It’ll be fine, Harry! Dress robes aren’t that bad.”

He shot her a doubtful look.

Inside the shop, enchanted mannequins twirled in elegant patterns, fabrics shifting from color to color. A tailor witch perked up at their entrance.

As Harry crossed the threshold, the System chimed warmly:

[Hidden Quest Accepted.] [Reward Calculation in Progress… Rare Item guaranteed.]

“Well,” Harry said under his breath, “I hope it’s better than the turnip.”

[Statistically speaking: yes. Marginally.]

And with that, Harry stepped deeper into the dress robe shop—unaware that the System, smug as ever, was already preparing something far more unusual than a simple set of clothes.
