The Quidditch World Cup, a spectacle of magic and camaraderie, had unfolded in a way Fleur Delacour could never have anticipated. As she reminisced on that fateful night, the vivid memories brought forth a whirlwind of emotions, from the excitement of witnessing international Quidditch teams competing to the unforeseen horrors that awaited in the darkened woods.
The vibrant lights of the Quidditch stadium had painted the night sky with hues of gold and silver, creating an atmosphere of celebration. Fleur, representing Beauxbatons Academy with pride, reveled in the cheers and roars of the crowd as skilled wizards on broomsticks soared through the air, chasing the elusive Golden Snitch. Little did she know that the enchantment of the event would soon be shattered by the chilling screams and echoes of chaos.
As the ominous dark mark erupted above the woods, casting a shadow over the festivities, a sense of foreboding gripped Fleur's heart. The night transformed from one of joy to a nightmare as Death Eaters descended upon the campsite, their intentions nefarious and their actions plunging the once-celebratory atmosphere into chaos.
Fleur vividly recalled the panic that ensued, the terror that gripped her as she navigated through the chaos, desperately seeking safety trying to keep her sister, Gabrielle, safe from harm. In that moment of vulnerability, Fleur realized the fragility of the magical world she inhabited.
Amidst the chaos, Fleur found herself and her sister isolated and cornered by Death Eaters. Fear threatened to engulf her as their sinister laughter echoed around her. It was then that the true horror unfolded—the cold, cruel reality of the dark forces that lurked in the magical world. In that moment, Fleur faced a danger that transcended the Quidditch pitch, a danger that sought to extinguish the magic and light that defined their existence.
The nightmarish encounter reached its zenith as a menacing figure approached, his face obscured by a hood. Fleur's heart raced, her breath caught in her throat as the figure raised his wand. The dark incantations that followed, the searing pain that coursed through her, marked the culmination of the terror that unfolded that night. Then everything had gone dark.
The next thing Fleur knew she was waking up in a bed, the force of the jolt made her groan in light pain. In a panic and fear still in her system wasn’t helping her any. Going for her wand, she was stopped by a person, who she realized was her father. Realizing she was now safe, the terror and fear she felt washed away and turned to tearful joy as she started to cry.
After she had calmed down her father started to explain to her what had happened and the her sister was safe. He told her about how Harry Potter of all people had been the one to save her. While she was happy about it, she wasn’t as exuberant about it as her 7 year old sister would be, but still she felt a stirring feeling, almost a pull in her core that she hadn’t felt before. It was a strange feeling, one that she knew was tied to her Veela heritage.
Seeing that she was better, her father handed her a rope that was their portkey home, when she got home, her sister tackled her with a hug and they talked to each other in rapid French.
“Sister, did you hear Harry Potter saved us. I wish I could have seen it.” Gabriel enthusiastically spoke.
“Yes Little Angel, I did Father says he has a copy of the memory of the event.” Fleur told her. Hearing this Gabrielle immediate ran and begged her father to see the memory. Fleur could see her father trying to say no but the incessant plee and Gabrielle’s puppy eyes was making his will cave.
Fleur let out a soft chuckle, her mother seeing her husband’s plight, picked up Gabrielle and said, “Now Little Angel, let your sister see it first and she can tell you about it. It would be your bedtime story for the night. Now I have to talk with your sister, go outside and play.”
Hearing this Gabrielle nodded her head in agreement, she always did love her sister’s stories. Seeing this agreement her mother put her down and ran outside.
“Now come daughter, let us see this memory. I feel I change in your magik and I feel I know the reason.” Fleur’s mother told her. Standing up Fleur, brushed off her skirt, and sighed it was the same one from the world cup, it would have to go, and followed her parent’s into her father’s study.
Her father then pressed a rune on his desk, and a few clicks later, the family pensieve rose up from out of the desk. Fleur’s father then poured a memory into the bowl, and then the three went into the memory.
As the memory came into focus, Fleur saw the clearing, herself and Gabrielle unconscious and the three death eaters wands drawn. Then she saw Harry Potter run out of the woods and tackle one of the Death Eaters, only to be blasted to the side near where memory her laid. Fleur then say him pick up her wand and while under the Torture Curse sent some kind of spell at the two other men. Fleur was astounded by the power and will of the boy, so much so that she felt something stir in her core. A primal feeling of sorts. The last thing she saw before exiting the memory was the emerald glow of Harry Potter’s eyes which radiated power.
