The fuck did I say that for?
It's exactly as awkward as it sounds. Don't forget too, we're literally still physically attached to each other. He's probably still at the tail end of his climax too.
AND we're looking at each other’s faces in the mirror. It’s the definition of nowhere to hide.
At least now I can see what Kai means by my cheeks turning bright red. They sure are the reddest things in this washroom.
I love you? Did I seriously just say that?
It just slipped out. It was a combination of kissing and fucking and cumming and…
Some thoughts I've always had about him.
Some fantasies of what could be if Kai wasn't just my best friend…
Just say you didn't mean it.
Or like, I love you…. dude. That would be more acceptable…maybe. Or maybe we can just pretend that he misheard?
“Fuck.” Kai grips my hips tightly as someone rattles the door handle of the washroom. “We should go?” His eyes finally meet mine again in the reflection.
There is no way he misheard what I said. Not with that look in his eyes.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“Sorry!!!” Kai turns his head and calls out.
“We're calling the police if you don't unlock this door!” The muffled voice comes through. “Unlock it right now!”
“We're coming! Just having … an …emergency!” my best friend says loudly. Then, he lowers his voice at me. “Okay, I'm gonna pull out.”
“Mm…” I exhale as his cock slips out of me. A rush of liquid exits with him, and I instinctively look around for paper.
“I got you.” He penguin-walks with his shorts around his ankle to the paper towel dispenser. Then, he shuffles back behind me and I watch him gently wipe me up in the mirror’s reflection. “The sink, Miles.”
I activate the faucet and splash the water around to wash down my cumshot. Some of it sticks stubbornly to the metal, and I admit that I'm not so focused on doing a good job.
What is he thinking? It's hard to tell.
Kai pulls up my shorts and his hands pat around my mid-section to smooth out the waistband.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
“I'm serious! I'm going to call the cops!”
“You ready?” Kai says to me quietly. “Don't worry, I'll handle it.”
He did handle it. This was probably some element of pretty privilege or male privilege or whatever, but Kai talked our way out of trouble. By the end of the conversation, I thought the burger joint manager was going to offer him a free ice cream or something with the way they were laughing together.
I don't know what excuse he invented or what they talked about. I don't even know what the manager looked like, except for his shoes. I would've been happier that the cops didn't show up if I wasn't quickly spiralling down a hole of my thoughts.
What's worse than accidentally saying I love you? When no one says it back.
Why would he love me? He's straight.
I don't love him.
Do I?
I just have a crush on him cause he's been fucking me. That's all it is. We're friends.
We’re just fucking.
And it’s messing with my head.
I love him of course, as my best friend!
I'm sure he feels the same way.
I shouldn't have said that.
“Miles… Miles!” His hand on my shoulder shakes me out of my thoughts. “Dude, you alright?”
“Yeah, I'm good.” I blink, suddenly feeling really tired. Somehow, we made it back to the center of campus. “I think I'm going to head back to my room.”
“I'll come with ya.” Kai’s worried face makes him look like he's frowning even with efforts to make it a smile.
“I’m just gonna take a nap,” I say.
“I could use a nap,” he replies.
“We’ll meet up after to eat dinner then?” The stress of thinking about anything makes my voice falter.
“I mean, I thought we could nap together given…” His silhouette becomes blurry. “Whoa…okay, come here.” The warmth of his body embracing mine releases the floodgates and the tears run down my face and onto his shoulder.
“I’m…”
“Shhh,” Kai hushes me, shutting down my feeble attempts to move on from the hug. As stupid as it sounds, I focus my efforts on not sobbing loudly while I drench his shoulder. Although, I'm sure he still feels it because his palm is rubbing my back.
I…
I love him.
With that, my body falls quiet, and my eyes dry up. I place my chin on his shoulder and take a deep breath.
“Did you get freaked out?” Kai combs the back of my hair. “You know I wasn’t going to let us spend a night in jail.”
“No.”
You know what I'm crying about.
The silence after confirms it. I pick my head up, and Kai pushes the sides of our faces together.
“I think I mean what I said,” I say, my voice cracking. If there's something I'm scared of right now, it’s looking him in the eyes.
But… I have to?
The stubble along his jawline rubs against my face, forging the path until our lips meet. We softly kiss each other, and I feel that same surge of emotions I did before my admission.
One kiss too short, Kai lifts his head and gives me a peck on my forehead.
“Miles…”
My eyes watered again just at the tone of how he said my name.
“I… you know…you're my best friend.” I can feel his heart rate increasing. “And what we're doing is so …cool… no, not cool. Fuck.”
He's not going to say it.
“You're special to me, of course.”
But…
“Miles, hold on…”
This time, his arms didn't have any convincing strength to them. I separated myself from him and wiped my eyes before I looked at him.
“You know that you're important to me.”
But…
“I like what we have going on,” Kai says, almost as a plea.
But…
It's not love.
“Sure,” I say. “I get it.”
“Miles, dude, come on.”
“No, I get it,” I say, swallowing any other thought that comes up. “I'll see you later.”
Before tears could roll down my face again, I turned and walked towards my building.
