I have lost all of my data on my PC's media drive. This means all audio, images, documents, and everything blender related is gone. A sudden power outage late at night had occured in my area as my PC was on. The power outage caused a power surge that had corrupted one drive and fried the other. The unrecoverable drive had just about all media I had saved on it going as far back as 2015. All my projects, models, environments, plugins, node setups, are all going to need to be replaced. The most painful is my vast audio library that I had been building from various sources.
I had 3 videos in progress that had varying levels completion, that were going to be finished and shared. • One was called "Gwen gets Shortstacked" , a video about Gwen from Total Drama Island becoming short and... stacked. It was an experiment with cartoon squash and stretch and big expressions. • Another was called "Sneaking Around Shinra" , a video where Jesse from FF7 Remake throws some Mini Materia at a nameless guard to shrink him down, before she stuffs him in her clothes. • The last was a goofy and rushed secret santa video featuring Ethan Winters and Lady Dimetrescu. It is now unfortunately never going to have it's obvious flaws ironed out, and instead I am going to embrace the jank of it and pretend that it's intentional.
There's even older, scrapped videos, that I was excited to share to see some behind-the-scenes projects to see what could have been. • One was Link shrinking himself to sneak into a Gerudo woman's home to steal a big ruby. • Another was Jinx from League of Legends accidentally shrinking herself and teleporting underneath Lux (also from League of Legends), along with an entire library environment I made along with it.
I am going to be spending the next while rebuilding my libraries, reinstalling my programs + plugins, and investing in a BETTER SURGE PROTECTOR + removable backup drives. Make sure you look at the user reviews for any surge protectors you purchase, and to BACK UP YOUR DATA. I thought that having my content in an SSD was "safer and faster", but as I've learned, data recovery on SSDs are actually much much more difficult, costly, and unlikely, than on HDDs. Please, please PLEASE back up your data. I never thought I had to, but here we are.
I want to put out some short videos to fill the gap until I can get everything back together. And they are going to be experimental. Watch out!
