The following day - hours after Liam’s death - Jay and her wolf are stuck in the hospital with less than flattering fractures and bruises. Having to explain those to the hospital staff was more fun than getting them. What makes it ‘all the more fun’ is Anton and Bryan laughing at them at their expense. But it was a nice laugh to have to make the pain die down. Especially since the painkillers aren't doing much.

But, eventually, with all the laughs dying down, and Jay and Her Wolf having time to herself. This gives them time to talk. And…a chance to make some serious decisions about their future.
