CRONUS ZEN PADDLES: GLOBAL INPUT STUDY
DESCRIPTION

Hello World,

After many days of study, testing, mistakes, adjustments, and trying different setups, I finally reached a clear conclusion about something I really wanted to solve for the community.

These were not simple tests. I spent days testing Cronus Zen, DualSense Edge, alternative controllers, paddles, keyboard input, mouse input, HID, XInput, and USB ports A/B/C, always trying to find a real solution and not just a theory.

The main goal was to bring more possibilities and more resources to players through the scripts. I wanted to open the door for more advanced techniques, like Auto Cutstrafe, extra activation options, smarter binds, and features that could improve gameplay without making the setup complicated.

As many of you know, my focus is always to push the Zen to its maximum capacity and bring solutions that can improve gameplay in a simple way, especially because this community is global, with players on PS5, Xbox, and PC.

The biggest challenge was the DualSense Edge on Cronus Zen.

The problem is that the Edge paddles are not recognized by the Zen as real extra buttons. They only work as remapped buttons from the controller. So, if you assign a paddle to a normal controller button, the Zen will only read that standard button, not a new independent input.

I tested many possibilities to try to bypass this limitation. I tested controller + keyboard input, HID behavior, XInput behavior, GameSir G7 SE, Xbox Elite, DualSense Edge, and different remapping methods.

One of the main ideas was to find a controller that could work normally as a controller, with sticks, triggers, and standard buttons, while the paddles could be remapped as keyboard keys like A and D. If this worked, we would have one single controller acting like controller + keyboard at the same time, creating extra buttons for script techniques without losing important in-game buttons.

This would make it possible to use extra resources and more complex script techniques in a much cleaner way, without forcing the player to sacrifice important buttons used during the match.

But after all the tests, the conclusion is clear: Cronus Zen cannot read two input protocols from one single controller in the way we need.

It will either recognize the device as a controller, using the predefined controller buttons, or as HID/keyboard input. It cannot combine both in one controller to make the paddles work as real extra buttons.

Yes, using a keyboard and a controller separately can work, because they are two different devices. But that was not the mission. The mission was to create a clean and simple solution using only one controller, especially for PS5 players using the DualSense Edge.

So the final conclusion is: on Cronus Zen, it is not possible to use DualSense Edge paddles as real extra buttons in a single-controller setup.

The only stable solution right now is to remap the paddles to buttons that already exist on the controller, then use the least important in-game button inside the script to activate specific functions. It is not perfect, because it requires some adaptation during gameplay, but it is the most reliable option within the current Zen limitations.

I really wanted to bring a better solution, something simple, powerful, and easy for everyone to use with just one setup. My intention was to give you more options, more control, and more advanced script features without making your gameplay harder.

But after days of testing, I prefer to be transparent with you and share the real result.

I will keep working to improve the scripts and find better adaptations for PS5, Xbox, and PC players. The goal is always the same: better gameplay, smarter setups, and getting the maximum performance possible from the Zen.
