Happy New Year all, While I get today's release sorted I was hoping you all might help me with a question I've been dealing with.
While I originally did some 'mythbusting' videos earlier in the war, for a variety of reasons since then I've focused on more deep dive analysis of individual topics or events. The biggest advantage to doing this is that it's far more efficient to describe how things are rather than to explain a hundred different ways they are not. The other, is that it avoids making conflicts personal with those making the claims - which I think risks taking away from the analysis involved. I get the occasional invitation to appear on pro-Russian channels for example. usually it's obvious that these are planned as a stitch-up more than a debate or as a way to bring in a lot more eyeballs which is not something I want to do - and I'm confident such an appearance would risk putting the focus on youtubers rather than the underlying arguments. But at the same time - I see some pretty pervasive narratives out there, around the Ukraine war, that seem really quite at odds with reality. It's made me wonder whether my current approach is right, or whether I should be spending time trying to address those claims more directly.
You've all been fantastic supporters, many of you for some time now - so I thought I'd ask for your thoughts.
