“It’s comforting to me. Knowing that in 5 billion years the sun will swallow up the Earth and everything we ever were and are will go with it. Imagine, all the mistakes we made, all the tears and regrets will be gone. No more war, no more genocide, no more rapes or murders or dictators or fighting because of religion or sex or skin colour. It will all be sucked into oblivion for the rest of time. We will not remain, not a speck and we will not be remembered. In a way, I think that’s ultimately true peace, the cosmic darkness of the universe —where we came from and where we shall return to— will take us back once again after eons away.”
“Sounds morbid.”
He shrugs. “I guess. But isn’t it liberating too?”
