I've made a huge progress since we last spoke. I'm finished with the textures of the counters! As I said earlier, I made two variations one is with the wood front and one in the same style just with rattan doors. I couldn't decide what should I go for because at first I only wanted rattan cabinets and wood counters to avoid them looking too busy but this ways it can be mix and matched. I made every part different so the wood left end piece for example has the shelves with books, while the rattan version has doors. I also made an accent counter with drawers.
Now, let me tell you, I had quite a long time spent on the countertops. I wanted two styles, a butcher block, wooden one and small tiles. For the latter I wanted to make backsplash with the same texture. This was what I started with and I ended up doing the tiles' texture twice because I realized I really wanted this checkered texture included but hadn't thought about it earlier when I made the models with an uneven number of tiles and the pattern wouldn't add up. :D So I redid not only that but the backsplash too but I'm so happy because I like the look of it! I'm in my checkered pattern era. :D I have so many images saved featuring this pattern. Don't worry this tiles will come in simpler swatches as well.
At this point I couldn't contain myself and made another style for the tiles. This was my original idea so I didn't want to leave it out. I plan to make a wallpaper version of these backsplashes but those are at the end of my list, I want to finish the furniture first.
I attached a moodboard for you to see what inspired me. I thought you'd find it interesting. Hope you like it so far! I'm really taking my time with this one and trying to enjoy every step. I usually get frustrated with kitchen furniture because there are so many pieces and to make the texture seamless everywhere is a pain in the butt. But I'm trying to make new and visually interesting textures and I really like the process! I'm gonna be away for a couple of days so the next post may come a little later.
