When the transformation struck, it tended to affect people based on their physical traits. No one really knew why...there was little-to-no genetic connection between a chubby person and a hippo, or a scrawny person and a giraffe. It almost seemed to be a practical joke from some higher being, just heightening some prominent aspect of each victim on a whim.
And in her case...she'd always had brilliant red hair. Minding her own business in her living room, she felt it descend upon her...she immediately knew what had to be happening, and was powerless to stop it. Her nose pushed out into a canine snout, her ears pointed, and her hands shifted into gnarled paws. Within moments, she was well on her way to being a fox...worse fates existed, to be sure, but it was no less terrifying for the poor woman, to feel her humanity slipping away...
