Howdy! This is just a short sweet post to update you guys on the texturing state of the Pure Liquimorph Drone :D
This is by far my most complex model yet, with the shading covering: Color, Roughness, Normal, and Scattering (Subsurface Scattering) maps!
I'm quite proud of it, although there's always room for improvements ( as usual ! ).
Full body version with yellow eyes:
Close up version with red eyes:
Subsurface Scattering is far more obvious when viewed from behind! As you can see, the lit up parts of the model have SSS, as part of the light goes through it and scatters:
The eyes were also given special attention, and have the shape of a real eye, simulating the sclera, cornea, iris and pupil!
It's worth noting that the pose was achieved with an Armature (Rig), so there's been additional progress on that front, as well!
Feedback is always welcome! Feel free to leave any suggestions you might have here in the comments or in the Discord server.
Over the past few days, after texturing, I have been integrating the model into Unreal Engine using the textures, model and armature that I created. I have set them up to match the appearance that I achieved in Blender/Substance Painter as closely as possible. More recently, I tackled the eyes shader in UE, which was quite complex as I didn't know much about it. However, after some research and testing, I achieved the desired effect!
Ideally, for the goo surfaces, the final effect will be a sort of moving texture that gives the appearance of continual movement.
I am getting close to finishing this model and moving on to the next one. Before that, though, I will create the game animations, and refine other details as much as possible.
Lastly, and as always, I extend my deepest thanks to all the patrons who support and believe in our work; in this project! Thank you so much! More coming soon :D
