Rig Animation Test:
In the meantime, I thought I'd share that I've recently been trying to learn tween/rigging animation!! 💪 As much as a love frame-by-frame animation, I've always been fascinated by rigged animation of 2D images, like what they use in gacha games aha
I used April's early access art of Mercy and Jesse to test out Toonsquid and it's a lil rough but not too bad using the program for the first time hahah I'm super excited to experiment more, been really itching to animate again !! Also planning to try out Live2D for animating soon too 💪💪
Jesse Prototype:
And here are some prototype sketches of early Jesse! I decided pretty early on how I wanted Mercy to look and act but Jesse changed quite a bit!
He's still a social butterfly, but I was going to give him a soft, androgynous appearance with a slim build and shorter stature. But after thinking about the themes and progression of the story, I decided that a stronger contrast to Mercy's design would suit the story better!
So he transformed into a jock stereotype LOL Jesse did end up keeping the dark thick eyebrows + light hair look tho!
Still really like his prototype design, will probably use him for something else in the future! :)
