Beyond that, I really apologize for ghosting you guys over the winter! It’s been a rough handful of months to put it simply—I lost the income I was making from my comfy, years-long programming gig, which had allowed me the spare time (and energy) to write and pump out SoH chapters month after month.
If you haven’t been following the news, it’s not a good time to be a programmer right now. In fact, the only worse time is tomorrow. Getting a work-from-home programming job in a world in which half the tech sector has been laid off is like walking a camel through the eye of a needle—some serious biblical stuff!
Basically, I’ve been spending this precious time between books working to set my finances in order so that I can continue writing SoH to see this series through. On that front, I’m finally starting to see some success…but I’m not quite there yet. I know this wasn’t exactly on the patreon pledge when you signed up, but I want you all to know that your support through all this isn’t being taken for granted.
My goal is to no longer be reliant on you guys. I don’t want to squeeze my biggest fans more than I already have. I want to reduce the patreon tier costs, and then reduce them even further if the chapter release schedule looks more like once every two months (or whatever) if I don’t have the time to write like I used to.
I don’t want Samurai of Hyuga (+ you guys) to be such an important part of my income. It’s at its best as a passion project, one that’s gone on for a decade now, and one I’ll see through to the end no matter what.
