Summer has been cruel, first the issue of the tablet technical difficulties seems to have been figured out, it's the pen itself, it's had a pretty rough life and is years beyond warranty. So I ordered a new one....but it got lost in the mail having found it's way to the county north of where I live, and then south to the next state....and without any insurance, well...sucks to be me....this was a many weeks battle with the postal service.
Then the environment began to muss with working, the summer heat is a problem, especially for my tablet, it begins to overheat quite badly and has a bad fan, so to prevent it from cooking the circuits, and my hands, I was reduced to using it only during the cool nights (I also had to spend the month's food money on buying a new fan, yay!). But then one of the next door neighbors decided to rip up both front and back yards to replace it with wood chips...which smells terrible, especially in the heat, which lead to constant nausea having to have a window open to vent in cooler air. Then the other next door neighbors decided to take up chain smoking, every hour, there would be cigarette smoke billowing into my room, and to cover the smell for themselves, use heavy perfume aerosols...so this turned into a severe skin and respiratory irritation...and I now have a dark spot in my vision on the left side.
Work never stopped though as one of my first ever commissioner clients is dealing with their nearing death, and has been asking for help in sorting out their website assets. Work that doesn't require use of the tablet...and doesn't pay well at all. But that's reached a slow point, so it's back to work on previous projects while site construction gets settled.
All the various bits of the Haruko variable pinup are base colored and most of the more cumbersome bits are cel-shading. The Chel and Kida variable duet pinup still has a lot of variation linework to finish up though, but should be easier/quicker to wrap up once that phase is done.
With the weather getting better though, hopefully the standard work will be getting done quicker. And though I don't like the idea of stacking commissions on in queue, I really do need to try to replace my tablet pen again, so if anyone wants to fund that venture, I will bump them ahead of the personal projects queue.
