Well, November-ish. I had some free time on my hands and figured I'd just get it done.
Hey, folks, welcome to another now-bimonthly development update. The weather's been getting colder, here, which I've been somewhat mourning as somebody who prefers the warmth. Just the other day, I had what'll probably be my last time wearing sandals outdoors for the year. Still, the season's got its charms. I'm fully in stew-making mode, and we'll see if any recipes I've got my eye on dethrone the reigning champion.
Anyway, chapter 4 will be going public next Friday, November 7! With the build itself done, development has rolled right on to chapter 5. There's been a bit of schedule wrangling with various contributors, but things have otherwise been proceeding smoothly.
With that being said, chapter 5 is easily the most ambitious update so far and assets are mostly in the early sketch phase at this time. It's possible things could come together faster than anticipated, but I think it's more likely than not that it'll be going into beta sometime in December (and I'd be quite surprised if it got pushed all the way to January). Still, over the next couple days Disc tier patrons will have both the next behind the scenes article and some art previews once I've got something that isn't too spoilery to share.
December should also be a very exciting month on the writing front! In what will be the third year of the project's development for me personally, I plan to continue the tradition of taking a big chunk of time off work as a sort of writing sabbatical. This will be a big first drafting push, which will face much closer scrutiny and editing over the months to follow. Chapter 5 will actually be the final chapter to have been drafted in December 2023!
Anyway, the end of December and early January will probably have some disruptions between holidays and some personal travel including going to Further Confusion (I submitted a panel, fingers crossed!), so it's hard to say how things will look from there. The next couple builds should be a very exciting time for the project, and I'm looking forward to getting them out in the wild.
That's all for now!
See you around,
Faintly
