That’s how I imagine we're all feeling, especially with the World Cup touching down in North America. Or maybe it’s just me. Anyway, soccer has been inescapable for the past month, and the World Cup has provided endless moments for veteran watchers and newbies of the game learning about the annoyance of the offside rule. While the tournament has been great, no matchup has compared to the 2022 World Cup Final between Argentina and France.
The final had it all. A setting that had no business hosting a World Cup, a dramatic late-game comeback, two top nations pushing each other to penalty kicks, and in the middle of it all, two of the game's top stars, Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi. For Mbappé, a win would further solidify his status as one of football's best, adding a second World Cup to his very young, promising career. For Messi, it could very well be his last World Cup in a career filled with countless accomplishments, yet a trophy that’s eluded him for years. It really doesn’t get any better than this.
