TL;DR I will be making some changes to this patreon page as well as define a posting schedule for 2026 and beyond
When I decided to make this account and started posting my work publicly, I went into it without a clear idea of what to expect or even what I wanted from it. It was just about showing up and putting my reps in, with the hope that these questions would be found in the process. So I spent the next 19 months experimenting, learning, failing and iterating with an “if you build it, they will come” attitude which, while it did help me thug it out through the various neuroses that baptise an aspiring artist, also made me neglect many aspects of this that cannot be solved in blender or photoshop, not the least of which is my audience and this patreon page. I feel that my main bottleneck for growth right now is not the technical skill itself (though there is yet plenty of room for improvement there) but my disorganisation. The biggest pain point here is commissions, which I tend to take on in batches and indiscriminately (saying no is also a skill :P) which results in having to juggle multiple complex projects, reducing my efficiency and causing burnout (which then slows me down even more). While I do enjoy working on commissions, over the past few months it’s become clear to me that if I want to keep doing this I would need some sort of a posting schedule to anchor myself, which brings me to the next announcement:TL;DR I will be running quite a few polls in the next few weeks to determine what direction some of these changes should take
I’ve had the concepts of the plan for how these changes should look like floating inside my head for weeks now, but before I decide on anything, I want to hear what you think, what you want and what you would like to see more of in the following year. So in addition to the usual content, in December I’ll be running some polls to get a better feel for what my audience wants to see in 2026. Depending on the content of the particular polls, some of these will be tier-specific, some will be for all patrons to participate, and I might run some on Twitter as well.
TL;DR starting in 2026, I’m shifting my tier prices from $ to € (so 3$ → 3€ & 5$ -> 5€). As per patreon's own FAQ, this should only affect new patrons or those who cancel and then rejoin later
The final change is fairly simple – I live in the eurozone. When I initially set the prices, the dollar was roughly equivalent to the euro and, it being the default option, I didn’t give it any further thought. Other than the fact that this made my patreon income even more irregular and susceptible to shifting exchange rates, it also means I get charged conversion fees twice – once by patreon when it converts your pledges into dollars and then once more by the payment processor that converts it back into euros.I didn’t change this earlier because for a long time my patreon earnings were insignificant so I simply handwaved it. But as I will be making changes to the tiers anyway, and in hope that my income from this keeps rising, I have decided that now is the moment to make this change.
