And here it is, the first version of Dungeon Explorers 2! The more attentive among you might spot a few easter eggs.
In this initial version, I focused on setting up the area around the city, organizing the characters, and adding a few dungeons to explore, along with, of course, quests. The NPCs haven’t been deeply developed yet, so their personalities and depth will evolve over the course of future updates.
Here are some features I’m still planning to add:
Karma System (Virtue & Ambition)These won’t be simple “good vs evil” choices. Karma-related actions will be relatively rare, as I don’t want the game to rely heavily on it or lock too much content behind it. However, over time, it will influence dialogue options, relationships, and certain scenarios.
Teleportation SystemThere won’t be a simple teleport stone. Instead, you’ll gain access to a portal room that allows you to travel to locations where you’ve already unlocked teleport crystals.
Relationship Points SystemInstead of a traditional relationship menu, there will be a dedicated room featuring characters you can interact with. It will display your points, how many “intimate” events exist for each character, and how many you’ve unlocked. I’m still deciding whether to include progression hints, likely short ones, without breaking immersion too much.
Jobs / PathsThis update already introduces about four job paths, though not explicitly labeled as such.
Work as a mine guard (more dungeon crawling focus)
Join the mercenaries (tactical battle route)
Join the bandits (also tactical battle)
Join the anti-slavers (quests and favor-focused route)
These are the planned early-game paths. As decided with the help of our Counselors, DUEX 2 will have a slower progression pace.
