Demo - The Only Thing (with Ianborg)

This is a scratch track I really love that didn't make it on Runaway EP. It was basically done but I just couldn't find anywhere to fit it in terms of the EP's overall journey.

It's definitely interesting to listen back to my lyrical palette at the time, which I think just reflected the overall dimensions of who I was back then. I think my melodic sensibilities were solid (albeit quite a bit more mainstream-oriented, though I wouldn't have admitted it at the time) but I hadn't quite learned how to successfully bridge my poetry to my music, except in isolated tracks like Ghosts, Swimming In The Flood, Angels, and Aporia.

Despite the lack of super compelling lyricism, I still like it a lot, and I think anyone who still listens to the first three EPs will as well. I'm interested to hear what you guys think.
