It's always so fascinating to me to see how creative work seems to predict and narrate my life years in advance. Sometimes my writing doesn't make sense in the moment, then often a year later the exact situations and emotional states I was writing about end up occurring, and it's like I have the soundtrack to my entire experience premade waiting for me.When I wrote this during the Let Me Be Your Womb writing period I felt it deeply, but it didn't have any direct correlation to anything in my life at the time, yet now a year later listening to it is almost painfully topical. It adds weight to my theory that whatever deep subconscious part of us spews up this creative material is somehow able to predict the path we are going down long before our conscious minds catch on, with uncanny specificity.
LYRICS:
Why am I always laying down? These days it’s like I’m deadYour weight has found me
All your smilesHung around my neck
They tie me, pull me downTie me, pull me downTie me, pull me
And at the end of daysYour violin will play the saddest little songAnd I’ll know every toneCause I wrote it for you, baby
For 40 weeks it snowedOh how the city groanedEvery power line was broken from the ground and floating towards the sky
Oh, how the memories fadeI hit a deer todayIt’s blood was forming linesSpelling out your name on the concrete as I cried
