Push to Kindle 2.4 is now live. The new feature in this release is the ability to switch between browser-retrieved content - the main feature of Push to Kindle 2 - and server-retrieved content - the pre-2.0 retrieval method.
Browser-retrieved content is the default, and should produce the best results for most sites. On sites where you don't find the content presented well, you can now hit 'Edit' and use the new switch to get Push to Kindle to retrieve the content itself.
In most cases both versions will either look exactly the same or very similar. But if you pay for a subscription to a paywalled site, for example, the server-retrieval method will likely not produce any content - or only the excerpt shown to non-paying visitors.
We're getting closer to replacing our old Push to Kindle add-on with this new version. Up to now, we've recommended users keep both installed to compare results and use the previous version on sites where it produces better results. Once we move everyone to this new version, the new toggle will allow you get the best of both worlds from the same screen.
