Apple has approved version 2 of the Push to Kindle extension for Safari on macOS. It's now available to download from the Mac App Store. This brings the functionality in line with our Chrome and Firefox extensions.
If you were using Push to Kindle on Safari before, we suggest downloading the new extension. This new version sends the article content directly from your Safari browser tab to our Push to Kindle service when you use the toolbar button. In many cases you won't notice a difference from before, but if you subscribe to sites that require a login to view content, this new version should work better.
If for whatever reason the content preview doesn't look as good as before for a particular site, click the 'Edit' button and toggle the 'Use browser-retrieved content' switch to revert to the old fetching behaviour (where Push to Kindle will fetch the article content via its own server request).
Free extension with 30 article credits a month
Previously we charged a one-off fee ($1.99) for the Safari extension and offered unlimited sending. This new extension is free to download, but in line with our Chrome and Firefox extensions will now give you 30 free article credits every month. If you need to send more (or if you'd like to support Push to Kindle development), you can sign up for our Sustainer or Sustainer Plus plans.
We are no longer selling the old Safari extension, but it will still be functional for those who installed it. We'll continue to offer unlimited sending for the old extension until July 2021, after which the 30 credits a month sending limit will get applied there too.
