Spider-Man Mayham (AU) Chapter 481: *I don't know what to title this chapter*
[Third Person Pov]
After Logan had changed back into his usual clothes, he and Steve met up in the cozy kitchen of the mansion. The two old friends shared a drink together, sitting across from one another as they started talking and reminiscing about the past—their wartime days, lost comrades, and the long road that had finally brought them back together.
“I think we did something great here today,” Gwen said, feeling a deep sense of pride as she exited the Danger Room alongside Peter.
“We?” Peter asked, shifting his hips dramatically toward her with a scoff. “Baby, that was all you. You totally rocked back there.”
Gwen smiled brightly underneath her mask. She wrapped her arms around his arm and leaned her head affectionately against his shoulder as they walked.
“Thank you for calling me for this,” Gwen said in a quiet, sincere voice, keeping the conversation intimate between just the two of them. “Knowing you, I know you had hundreds of different ways of extracting that bullet… but you picked the one that gave me the chance to do something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.”
“What can I say? Only the best for my baby mama,” Peter replied teasingly, nudging her lightly with his shoulder and making her chuckle warmly.
She then rose up onto her tiptoes and whispered playfully into his ear, “Well, prepare to be rewarded later tonight by your baby mama.”
Peter slowly turned his head to look at her, the white lenses of his spider mask widening comically in surprise. He glanced down at his wrist as if checking the time. “Well, will you look at the time? We have somewhere to be—”
Gwen placed a hand firmly over his chest and shook her head with a soft giggle. “Hehehe, I said later. I was in the middle of something important when you called.”
“Really? What was it?” Peter asked curiously. As far as he remembered, she hadn’t had anything major planned for the day.
“I’ll show you in a bit,” Gwen said, shaking her head to make it clear that it was too risky to discuss openly right now.
Peter nodded in understanding and rejoined the rest of the X-Men, along with Logan and Steve, who were gathered comfortably in the kitchen.
…
After giving the group a light-hearted excuse, Peter and Gwen left Xavier’s Mansion, leaving Steve behind to spend more time catching up with Logan.
The two of them teleported straight back to their base, arriving in Gwen’s personal workstation where she had clearly abandoned everything in a hurry to join Peter earlier.
“Ah, you were working on Madeline’s Super Soldier Serum,” Peter said once he noticed the various ingredients, equipment, and genetic samples laid out across the lab benches.
“That’s right. I was in the middle of extracting the important genome sequences from each animal she selected when you called,” Gwen explained as she sat down in her swivel chair and spun around once with a satisfied smile.
Peter examined the different labeled disks and containers, reading the names aloud. “A cuttlefish? I thought the last animal was an octopus,” he said, picking up one of the labeled genetic sample disks.
“It was,” Gwen confirmed, carefully taking the sample back from him. “But according to MJ, her mother kinda went on a deep dive through all the aquatic animals on the planet. It got so intense that her phone basically stopped working because she had so many different tabs open at the same time. She had to get MJ’s help just to sort through them.”
Peter couldn’t help but snicker as he vividly imagined the chaotic scene. “So then she settled for a cuttlefish, I take it?”
“Yes, and I have to say it’s a very good pick,” Gwen said as she resumed her work with focused energy. “I had Aria run a full simulation on how these different abilities would develop under the influence of the Super Soldier Serum. With the unique cuttlefish DNA, Madeline may very well develop the additional ability to shape-shift into other people.”
“What could she possibly need the ability to shape-shift into other people for?” Peter asked, shaking his head in amusement at the wild thought.
“Mainly for cosmetic reasons,” Gwen replied with a half-hearted shrug, never taking her eyes off the intricate work in front of her. “Like changing her hair color without having to go to a salon, adjusting minor features on the fly… things like that.”
“Right, of course. I should have known,” Peter said sarcastically, snorting in reluctant amusement.
“Here, help me out and extract the DNA from these samples while I start preparing everything else,” Gwen said, handing over two carefully labeled vials to him.
After Gwen placed the bottled serum inside the high-speed mixer for the final process, she activated the device. It rapidly began shaking and blending all the complex ingredients together into a smooth, vibrant blue liquid.
While they waited, Gwen hopped up to sit on the edge of the workbench with Peter standing comfortably between her legs. Both had their masks pulled halfway up their faces, lips pressed together in a deep, passionate kiss as they lost themselves in each other’s taste and warmth.
Gwen gently held and caressed Peter’s chin, the soft sounds of their kisses echoing intimately in the quiet lab.
“You know,” Peter murmured between kisses, his voice low and playful, “I don’t think we’ve ever done it in our suits before. Which is completely bonkers to me—how have we not done that yet?”
Gwen exhaled an amused breath against his lips, lingering there for a moment before replying. “That’s mostly because our suits have been more armor than anything else. It makes it kind of hard to do anything fun in them.”
“Fair point, I suppose,” Peter said, raising his eyebrows suggestively. “But we can make it work, can’t we? I’m also pretty sure we could design some… recreational versions.” He grinned. “If you know what I mean.”
Gwen giggled and rolled her eyes affectionately. “Yes, I know exactly what you mean. You’re suggesting we do a bit of cosplaying and roleplaying.” She leaned in and kissed the corner of his mouth, grinning. “And I’m down. It could be interesting.”
A sharp ding suddenly went off beside them, interrupting their intimate moment and planning session. Both let out a disappointed sigh.
Peter glanced over at the mixer and immediately burst out laughing. Gwen gently pushed him back and hopped down to check on the completed serum.
A knowing smirk grew on her lips. “What did you think of this time?” she asked, already anticipating where his chaotic mind was heading.
“So you know how last time we gave Lydia’s serum as a Red Bull? What if this time we gave Madeline hers as a Monster energy drink?” Peter suggested, laughing hysterically at the ridiculous idea.
Gwen giggled behind her hand, eyes sparkling with amusement. “So your goal is going to be to present all of these to everyone as different energy drinks?” She held up the vibrant blue serum in her hand, examining it closely under the light.
“Maybe,” Peter chuckled, clearly considering the chaotic potential.
“I don’t think Madeline would find the idea of drinking out of something labeled ‘Monster’ while the serum mutates her into a chimera of sorts very appealing,” Gwen said, shaking her head. She wasn’t completely shooting the idea down, though.
“But it would be so funny though,” Peter insisted, still grinning at the opportunity for a good laugh.
“Again, I don’t think Madeline would find it funny… although I also think it would be hilarious,” Gwen admitted, playfully patting his cheek.
“Now come on,” she said, leaning in to kiss his cheek softly. “We have a serum to deliver.”
