Hi folks! Since posting last week, the response to part 1 of the 'GOOP' animation has been super positive which has been very reassuring! It's good to know these past few years spent learning Blender has resulted in something people really seem to enjoy!

Part 2 is already well underway and here's a WIP preview render of the first shot.
One of the hardest things to get right with any animation is being able to properly convey a sense of weight. Luckily half way through this shot I realised she's literally sitting on something that I can just slide up and down to show just that :D
Since I've basically already made everything for Part 1 progress has been much quicker so far. Although, the idea I have in mind has her leaving the chair and struggling to move across the room all while getting bigger and heavier so I needed to create a modified rig to help animate all that.
This is a test for a new method to do inflatable squishy jiggle physics I recently thought up. The quick jist of it is this is one single cloth phyisics mesh that's deforming the high-poly mesh.
It uses multiple weight painted vertex groups for individual body parts which are then dynamically mixed into a single vertex group that drives cloth sim parameters like pressure and tension etc. This means you have control over individual body parts and it has self-collision since it's a single cloth sim. It's also so much easier to work with just one proxy mesh instead of the usual 6 or 7 needed to achieve similar results.
Some people have been asking about if we'll be seeing Pepper and/or Molly again sometime. The answer is absolutely, but probably nothing substantial until part 2 of GOOP is finished.
I have tons of ideas and plans for these two in the future!
