This week's two pages follow our heroine through one of the most complicated consultations in the history of Shala'ar's magical community. She needed expert help. She found expert help. The expert help was helpful, in the end. The road to that help, however, involved a wizard with a very loose definition of "examination" and what Li Fang Fei can only describe as a complete waste of time.

What you're seeing here is just a fragment of the inks — and Mariano brought this wizard to life with exactly the right amount of ridiculous dignity. The script gave him a voice that's completely distinct from anyone else we've met in the story. And the dynamic between him and Li Fang Fei is peak LiFangFei energy.

LiFangFei works because every character has their own logic and their own way of being wrong about things. That's what real writing does.
