Howdy! If you decide to take a trip to the petting zoo during the field trip you, tragically, cannot feed every animal there. You have to choose 😢. Who will get your treats?

instructor “Howdy! There’s a lot of animals excited to meet y’all.”

“Oh, your first howdy on the farm. It made sense it’d happen with this activity. The enclosure was at the top of a small hill. You were taken straight there.”

“A chain-link fence circled a couple small buildings for the livestock to live in as well as water troughs. The promised poultry, pigs, and more busied themselves with snuffling and scratching at the ground.”

“Safely out of reach of the animals was a food dispenser and covered trash can. The farmer leaned their back against the zoo’s gate.”

“A couple sheep and goats wandered over. They bumped their noses against the gaps in the fence. The presence of people already piqued some interest. Human visitors meant more treats!”

instructor “Favored Heirloom Educational Farm and Orchard only sells produce. Our animal ambassadors are rescues. They’re gonna live here with us for the rest of their days.”

instructor “They’re friendly with people, though some are shyer than others. Try to be slow and gentle when feeding or petting. Do good by them and they’ll do the same for you.”

“As they spoke, they reached down to pat a sheep on its woolly head.”

instructor “Everyone here will get a handful of fortified nuggets for the bigger animals or bird seed for the chickens, turkeys, and geese.” 

instructor “There’s also plenty of hay around, if ya wanna try your luck getting them to take that.” 

instructor “Now line up!”

“Wait, {i}you had to choose the type of food{/i}? You’d just finished deciding to come here, after you’d already picked between doing other stuff.”

“There were too many freakin’ things they needed you to choose. This was exhausting!”

if good mood:

“What? You gotta pick the kinda feed you got, too?! This whole field trip was in your control, totally unique to you.”

else:

“Slow and gentle was not this employee’s expertise. Or maybe they only were like that with animals, not teenagers.”
