Hey all - last night I placed 2nd at a tournament using this Mega Pyroar team. The full run will be next Saturday's video, but here's the team in the meantime if you want to use it for yourself.

Pyroar: Pyroar to me seems quite strong due to the multiplicative scaling its ability provides. With STAB, Fiery Mane, Sun, and Helping Hand you have four separate 1.5x multipliers, meaning the damage can stack up quite quickly. I wanted to build a team that allowed Pyroar to shine, and so my goal was to build a team that set up for end games where Pyroar could end up in Sun next to Helping Hand and just clean up. While it can also work in the early game, I felt the late game is where it was easiest for it to shine. The spread is simple, and the moves are straightforward. Heat Wave is your best move, Overheat can actually KO Garchomp in Sun with Helping Hand, and I knew I wanted my last move to be something accurate. I ended up playing a lot of Swampert in the tournament, so I'm glad I went with Solar Beam.
Torkoal: There's two ways of getting the sun up via abilities right now - Torkoal and Ninetales. I feel like Torkoal is a stronger Pokemon in a vacuum, though it's also harder to use due to its low speed stat. I chose Torkoal because I realized I could model this team off of my GC winning team earlier this season, which used Hisuian-Typhlosion in the Pyroar slot. As such, I went with the same Torkoal set. Eruption and Protect are mandatory on offensive Torkoal IMO, and I knew I wanted Helping Hand here to boost Pyroar. The last move can be either weather ball or heat wave, and I decided to use weather ball as it never misses and isn't blocked by Wide Guard. As Torkoal was an alternative Trick Room win condition, I went with Charcoal to allow it to do more damage.
Now, I needed ways of letting Torkoal move first - and I ended up adding two.
Vileplume: Vileplume is a Pokemon that has never been very good before, but I wanted to try it here. The reason to use Vileplume is that right now it is the ONLY Pokemon with both After You and Chlorophyll in the game. This means I can use After You + Eruption outside of Trick Room if I want. On the original GC team, this slot was Hisuian Lilligant. Vileplume is using Sleep Powder, which can buy time for my Mega Evolutions and Torkoal to attack and do damage. It also can do decent damage on its own if left alone, with Sludge Bomb and Solar Beam. I wasn't as concerned with not having Protect because this team has priority blocking in Farigiraf. Focus Sash allows Vileplume to not worry about its mediocre defenses. I went with a Timid Nature because Timid Max Speed Vileplume is just barely faster than Mega Aerodactyl.
Farigiraf: The other Pokemon aiming to give Torkoal an advantage is Farigiraf, who ends up being one of the most important Pokemon on the team. It's an excellent, reliable Trick Room setter thanks to its good bulk and great ability providing teamwide support. While I prefer using offensive Farigiraf, with Throat Spray not in the game I decided to use the more standard defensive one, and I was quite impressed. Even without any training in Special Attack, Farigiraf still outputs consistent damage. Thunderbolt is the go-to coverage move in general these days, but it was especially valuable here because of Pelipper. Initially I had Protect over Helping Hand but found I was never using it, and Helping Hand lets Farigiraf be a much stronger partner for Pyroar. Farigiraf is trained to survive Blackglasses Kowtow Cleave from Kingambit, with the remaining points put into Special Defense. Sitrus Berry is excellent at keeping it alive, which is even more impactful because it can't protect.
Incineroar: On the original GC team, the default lead was Incineroar and Farigiraf with Torkoal and Typhlosion in the back. Here, I considered Scrafty but decided that since Pyroar was going to be coming in the back often I couldn't afford to use a Mega up front. I went with max attack Incineroar with White Herb and Close Combat as it's able to do surprising damage, even KOing other Incineroar with Helping Hand. The general idea with the team was to lead Incineroar and Farigiraf, get Trick Room up, and do as much damage as possible to the fire resistant Pokemon so that Torkoal or Pyroar could win later. This was a very effective strategy.
Floette: I wanted another Mega Evolution and decided to try Floette, as with three fire type Pokemon I'm naturally quite advantaged into Steel types. In the past I've mostly used three attack offensive Floette, but I never really liked it - so I decided to try a hybrid set here, using Calm Mind and Draining Kiss. I was quite impressed with this set - it felt way better for me than the offensive ones I've used before. It's definitely not the main mode of the team but in certain matchups (IE vs Rain) it can be a really effective Pokemon, especially due to its positive matchup into Garchomp who is a bit problematic otherwise. Trained it to be max speed, get the first nature bump, and put the rest in HP. Could probably be optimized more but it honestly felt totally solid.
The full video will be out next Saturday with the run, but here's a ladder game I played where I ran into Marco Silva also using Pyroar: https://youtu.be/IOdVYHXEGrI
The team felt very strong, I hope you enjoy using it!
