NOTE: This 290 update is for Android (APK), Windows, MacOS and PWA

Hey there, I hope you're having a great day so far! I'm excited to announce / release the first steps to making my games a PWA (Progressive Web App).

I know that this update isn't as exciting as a new scene or new accessories, but it's a VERY important one in taking steps towards freedom of expression / freedom to make applications that aren't under Google's scrutiny in their new 'developer verification program'.

If you don't know what I'm taking about, here's the rundown - google is making steps towards disabling APK installation for apps they don't approve of after September 2026.

This isn’t a tweak to their store policies. This is Google seizing control of what software runs on devices you own, paid for, and have every right to use as you choose. The deadline is coming. The question is whether we’re going to let it happen.

You can find more info on this here

Fairy FINDR PWA - What the heck is this??

A PWA (progressive web app) is an app that works in browsers, but can be installed as an app on your device. It works best on chrome for android, and safari for iOS, on any phone. On a desktop computer, any browser should work. Firefox / Android does work, but has limitations.

the PWA has limitations, especially on iPhone. One big one is that each new version of the game will appear as a new game to iPhone devices, which is quite crap, but a limit that Apple has put in I can't work around. Because of this, the cloud backup is an important update to the game that will let you transfer your fairies between these versions on iOS.

It's very important to me that you own your copy, so even after your sub ends, I want you to be able to access and play this game, or play offline. The PWA version select page on my website is locked with an access key, but is accessible even after the key expiry ends. The game knows what version was available during your subscription.

Works offline - Install the PWA to your device and when you are offline, the game will still boot.

Works on Safari / iOS / iPhone / iPad !

PWA Release Updates

Cloud Backup, this is a big one. In all platform versions of FINDR, cloud save is now possible. Once you enter your email, select a Findr username, and enter your access key on the cloud save screen, you can backup and restore your phonebook online.

Backup your important fairies in the phonebook for safe keeping / phone transfer / if your phone is damaged

Transfer your fairy phonebook between Windows, Android, MacOS, and PWA (Web browser and iOS)

Added tutorial skip - Important when moving between different PWA versions

Added optional real-world pregnancy time skip - Select the new skip button that appears where the call button usually is for pregnant fairies in the phonebook.

Save data will check what version was played last, protecting the save from being played on older versions (would cause a crash in the future)

Fixed some visual bugs with dresses and cowgirl / pixie hops (dress was showing through the boobs in some situations

How to use the cloud backup

Open the cloud backup screen from the phonebook (top left)

If prompted, enter your details into the findr online screen. Make sure your email is correct and matches your email in Patreon.

Enter your access key on the cloud backup screen (The first time, you will need to hit submit)

You can now use the 'Backup phonebook' and 'Restore phonebook'

NOTE: At least until more work is done, the backup should really only be used for cross-platform transfer and restore in case of your file being corrupted / phone breaking etc. Restoring a backup after play means that fairy level progression / upload state of fairies will revert, so please be careful with your phonebook file.

PWA Limitations and Struggles

Non-focus pause doesn't work

Butt slapping during Shortstack isn't possible if the left view is zoomed in (ruffle issue with masked scenes overlapping others with hit areas)

Vibration will only work if:

PWA is running or installed from Android Chrome, ONLY

Vibration is turned on in your phone volume settings and in-game

Vibration is not an option on iOS

Lovense won't connect unless the lovense app and PWA is playing on the same device (connect as 'localhost')

Likely, the fullscreen toggle won't work, but if you are on desktop, you can press F11 to fullscreen your browser.

tl;dr - The work is done and all my other games will get PWA versions after this. Expect an update with all the other games as PWA soon.

Up until this point, making builds for the games have been relatively easy. I've always considered myself more of an artist than programmer, and picking Adobe Animate + AIR was an intentional choice because of that. It meant that a majority of the code can be controlled via the timeline. Animations control the timing and I can export the games via a file > publish > android, and an APK is built with relative ease. A native app also means better access to vibration and network requests (Lovense API).

However with Google starting to seize control of their platform and restricting open installs of APKs, I had to look for solutions. Fortunately, Ruffle has progressed enough that it looked like a viable solution.

I had to spend a lot of time deciding how the PWA versions are going to be delivered. Unlike APK and Zip files, the versions need to be available as web pages on my website - but keeping the 'ownership' of a copy of the game was my #1 concern.

The current version of FINDR is offloading some commands for vibration and lovense connect through an event that javascript can pickup on the page. However this means Chrome / Safai can deny these requests. So vibration for example, isn't possible on iOS right now. Another limitation is that the Lovense compatibility only works when the Lovense app and game is running on the same device (connected with localhost).

Reminder - Erotic Audio Stories in the Extras!

During testing my partner mentioned she had forgot about the erotic audios that appear in the game. This is just a reminder that the game includes several long erotic audio stories that you can unlock and listen to!

What's Next?

All the PWA stuff has tired me out of code. I can't wait to get into more creative updates. I think the biggest bang for buck after this is the new Blowjob scene for Rosy Passion. But I also have a long list of creative additions that I need to look at for Findr:

Please report and bugs / strange behavior to me, especially in the PWA version. Expect some areas to be a bit rough in this first release, but I will work on fixing these things! With the release of the PWA, if things look good, it will probably phase out the smaller versions (MacOS version & Windows Compatibility Versions)

Thank you so so much for your support, and I hope the PWA versions will help to keep my games open and free to exist in this world.
