Sad news about Inky
Hello. I'm Birdie's older sister. You all knew her as Inky. I'm really sad to announce Birdie is no longer with us. After a few days of silence we checked up on her and found that she took her own life. We know how shocking that is to hear. Unfortunately what you all might not know is that Birdie has struggled with very deep depression for a long time.
She talked about you all and what she was doing here all the time. We all knew and we all supported her. She was so happy to finally feel in control of her life. She was really hopeful this could become her full time job and she wouldn't need to work more jobs that just added to her depression. Birdie was extremely proud and happy to make art for you all and create something of her own. Everyone of your support meant the world to her you have no idea.
After her computer broke she was very down and scrambling for solutions. We're not the most well off family so it wasn't really viable for us to help. We had no idea how extremely important this was to her either otherwise we would have done everything in our power to try to fix it. She spoke a lot about letting you all down and how bad she felt about it. Birdie was swamped with her actual job and personal life. She talked a lot about how behind she was on commissions and how stressful it all was. We never understood the gravity because it wasn't like an actual job where you can be fired so we assumed she could either just quit or would bounce back.
We now realize what all this really meant to her. We're all truly sorry for not doing more. We've always talked to Birdie a lot about her feelings and did our best to help her through her problems and suggested she go to therapy but we now that this has all happened we can't help but feel like we could have done more. We're sorry too for all of you disappointed that she could not finish everything she promised. We don't know how many of you that is but we're sorry. We understand if you're frustrated and mad. All we ask is you don't direct any of that anger towards Birdie. She was a beautiful young woman with a bright soul. She did everything she could within her means. Just remember that she was only one girl, not a company or a small team. She was doing everything by herself.
For now we'll leave her Patreon up. She worked so hard so it would be a shame to just deactivate the account. A lot of her work before her computer broke is only here on her Patreon we believe. All the money that comes in now will go directly towards Birdie's funeral. All we need are your condolences and understanding. We understand if you leave now. For those of you willing to stay to donate please just give within your means.
As for her Twitter we're not so sure. She spoke a about toxic people in her comments and private messages. We're not sure we want to open a possible doorway for more of that now with this news. We have decided to at least leave it up as well for now. Birdie mentioned a few times that she really liked helping smaller accounts who needed a little extra boost. So if we do decide to do anything with it it will be solely reposting other accounts. Hopefully then even now that she's gone she can still help people and all her hard work wouldn't have gone to waste.
Before we leave you all we just want to say quickly that depression isn't just a phase. It's not fake and imaginary. It is very real and it can do a lot of harm to you if left untreated. Please seek help even if it's only a little at first. Don't just ignore it and don't just try to power through it. Everything can change so quickly so please don't wait.
Once again we want to emphasize how much Birdie loved you all talked about you and thanked you for all your support. Before everything went bad Birdie was on cloud 9. We haven't seen her so happy in so long. She finally moved out on her own, she was taking care of herself, making money, and living life. We couldn't have been more proud of her. Thank you all for being here for her and looking after our baby sister.
Rest in peace Birdie, we love you.
