It has been ages since I have made a shirt design just for fun. I've worked for other companies, conventions, contractors, but never really for myself. The last design I ever did that I personally sold was Yeen Beans way back when, if anyone remembers that one. I felt it was time to try my hand at it again. I started drawing the design at the end of 2025. My original idea was to make a protest shirt to wear out and about, for which the reasons should be pretty obvious. I landed on the idea of a Mongoose and Snake caught in a fight 'to the death' though neither are making much progress. For those that don't know: the mongoose has some level of immunity to snake venom, making it a fairly resilient foe. Homo homini lupus - a Latin Proverb meaning "man is a wolf to man" Vince in bono malum - a Latin phrase "Overcome evil with good" or "Defeat Evil with Good"
The symbolism I was going for shifted to being about the cycle of violence and the pain it can cause. I felt much better about this direction, and it meant a lot to me to illustrate. I hope it's a design that can speak to others, or at minimum just looks pretty cool and you'd want to wear it out. I had a lot of fun doing a purely personal project and drawing some critters other than dogs and cats.I also learned to used Illustrator (vector) for this one, so everyone please clap.-----Pre-orders will end around the 10th of June and the shirts should be in hand and mailed out sometime in July. My printer is local, and while they have estimated around 2 weeks for production I like to leave wiggle room for stock issues or other bumps in the road. I cannot guarantee stock after Pre-orders at this time. Clothing unfortunately just does not have a lot of profit built into it, and I am genuinely unsure how this will sell. Regardless, I do plan on having a few of each size on hand for AWU, and to throw up on Etsy when they arrive. If it does do well not only will the stock be larger, but I have a few more shirt projects I would like to take a swing at ..... in colors other than black!
