Dear Elvis,
I guess I’m slowly getting used to this Academy. Before coming here, I thought it would be harder, but compared to the trainings at the Shadow House... this is honestly nothing. The 4 a.m. classes my mom used to force me into... Sigh... just thinking about them makes me tired. I only have 2 or 3 classes a day, in block format, each lasting two hours and I have to attend four days a week. Most of them are theoretical, so right now there is nothing like the physical strength and endurance based lessons we had back there.
You can get 2 free meals from the open buffet at the dining hall, one in the morning and one in the evening. I’m usually not that hungry in the mornings, so I just grab some coffee, but dinners here are amazing. The food is super good, there are lots of options, the dining hall is clean and the best part is the coffee is delish. I’d give it a solid 9 out of 10. That missing point is probably just me liking the idea that it could still get better.
There is no strict uniform, the only official rule is wearing the Academy Cloak. Yet everyone dresses like there are plenty of rules, so hearing there actually are not any genuinely surprised me. You know, I’ve never been the type to blend in when it comes to how I dress.
Before coming here, the only thing I knew about the Academy was those glowing cloaks that change design depending on the person's style. I thought I would get one right away, but I have to successfully pass this prep school first, then get through interviews and final exams. So yeah, the cloak is pretty limited and special.
That honestly just makes me want it even more. And like I said, it’s personal. I catch myself thinking about it all the time... I really hope mine ends up blue or white... Ah-
I do like navy and black too, but apparently the stronger the magic, the lighter the color gets. Black usually means someone pretty weak, while white is reserved for people with truly rare power. The exact color is tied to the element you work with most, though I don’t fully understand how that part works yet.
Until I get my cloak, I feel like I kind of stand out here, Elvis. I love the clothes from the Life House, they are really popular back home, but people here are a bit old fashioned. When I don’t dress like them, I feel like all eyes are on me.
Looks like I’ll be the alien transfer student for a while, because trying to fit in just isn’t my thing.
